Then I suggest you go buy Silent Hill and play in either normal or hard difficulty(easy ain't scary),of course at the start you won't find it scary, but later on...

What's that crappy Japanese game where you're the chick that goes into the haunted house looking for her brother? You know, that one where you get the camera? Try playing that late at night. I guarantee you will come d**n near close to pissing yourself.

The last game I remember scaring me is Jurassic Park for the SNES. Resident Evil is just too boring to be scary.

Yeah, the first person shooting segments for JP on SNES terrified me.....it was great I think Silent Hill since it is so screwed up.

Silent Hill was the closest to being scary. RE was pretty boring when it came to fear...

None of them truly scared me... in fact I don't think any games truly scare people. Most games which fall into the 'horror' category rely on shock tactics - sudden scares, which aren't real fear. Sure, they scare the hell out of you, but that's just because you weren't expecting it and you're shocked. But, the most 'shocking' game is definatly Silent Hill. Resident Evil isn't very scary, and I don't think many people like it because (a) The controls are the worst I've ever used (b) The camera angles are terrible (c) Annoying opening door sequences (d) The game gets very lonesome and boring after a while. I know the camera is bad and the controls are terrible to add emphasis to the game, and make it harder, but they really don't do all that much good for it.
Personally, I think the horror category isn't all that horrifying, unless it deals with something the player is personally afraid of.
Edit: The Evil Dead games where terrible 0_0 I don't advise anyone to even rent them..

Hehe; after playing those parts, I refused to play any other first person shoot 'em ups until Goldeneye ^_^. What's interesting though is that whilst a 16-bit, SNES game which is approaching its tenth birthday managed to shock me in its heyday, yet your new games with all their lah-di-dah fancy graphics and pre-rendered backgrounds and what-not are not quite as atmospheric.
