So because you break the law and you don't get caught, it's alright to do?

So because you break the law and you don't get caught, it's alright to do? We do it because while they give a d**n, they'd rather not lift a finger to stop us. Their fault, not ours. They do crack down on people who download full movies, anime series, and games, but usually not videos, small games, etc. The company I work for has that as their security policy. Plus, we don't make movies.

Here's another wannabe ST XD
Alright to do legally? No. Morally? Yes, considering that the majority of people are FOR it or secretly commit the act.

Oh okay. Now I understand you. If enough people break a law, it makes it okay!
I better go and get a bunch of my friends together so we can go and eat baby fetuses.

Well it may be easy enough to say "any TRUE musician is not bothered about the profits" but unfortunately with the majority of the music industry it simply doesn't work like that. We are living by their system and if they want to arrest us they will, although I totally agree with this comment.
I remember back in May I went to see Mad Caddies and they said "We hope you'll go and listen to our new album, buy it, steal it, copy it, download it, whatever, just listen to it". Made me smile.

If you're so against it, why do you come here? Your example was something major, and people would want to stone you. This is like pot. Sure, people hate it, but the cops can't bust every single person who has it. This is more like smoking. It's annoying, but people won't really try that had to stop you, unless they catch you smoking where you aren't supposed to.

This isn't about just RM2k, in case you haven't noticed. It is illegal, yet you try to rationalize why it shouldn't be. You are a criminal. End of story.

We actually negociate and find ways to justify things. Where I live downloading certain kinds of music (older ones, themes) is fine, especially if it's freeware. Games are illegal. Bascially anything new is illegal to download here, but not everything else. Things that will never be translated, such as RM2k, are not. And since I'm not the one that translated it, I'm not guilty. Some of the others may be criminals in their laws, but I'm not.

We wouldn't have to download RM2k(3) if ASCII/Enterbrain weren't such not a very nice persons. I'm sure many of the townies here would have gone out and bought RM2k3 had Enterbrain actually kept their promise instead of tricking sites to remove RM2K. BMZ and the others are not trying to say that RM2K is not illegal. RM2K is something we have the moral right to download since we cannot get it in stores due to the pricks at Enterbrain who do not want to waste time translating RM2K3 even though they could make more money if they did.

You two are completely avoiding the actual issue. RM2k and RM2k3 are both illegal to download in their current state. That is, as long as they are both commercial products, you have to buy them to be legal.
THERE ARE NO EXCUSES OR RATIONALISATIONS. None at all. I would have enjoyed it if Enterbrain had released RM2k3 here. But they didn't. Just because it gets hacked and translated by somebody, DOES NOT MAKE IT LEGAL.
Oh and BMZ. That's called rationalising. It's basically when your mind knows when it does something wrong and makes excuses to "why that wasn't so wrong". Take psychology some day.
Blackmage: BMZ has on more than one occasion said RM2k and RM2k3 are legal to download without purchasing them.

Over 200 people have been sued already.. But millions, or even billions of people download music from the internet every day, all over the world, not just US.
Can I get sued for downloading songs, even though I live in Israel?

Roughly: Only one out of eighty humans own a computer. Most people probably live in cities where almost everyone owns a computer, but most people who live in big cities with computers think that white people and Christianity is the world's majority. There are roughly 6.37 billion people currently inhabiting the Earth. www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpopSo, there are only 80 million people owning a computer. About a sixth of those people have used illegal file sharing software (Kazaa). That's 13.3 million people. This does not include households that use multiple computers, as the average household computer is used by 3.6 people. The only person responsible legally would be the person who owns the computer, since they would be owning the illegal software in question.. Where do you get a billion out of 13 million? And when you narrow it down to a specific country, info I don't really have on hand, it gets smaller. -Maduin Branford -EDIT- That 13 million is also the amount of people who have EVER used file sharing software... Not people who are currently running file sharing software, or whatnot.

Lots of local servers can scan our drives for a full game, huge movie file, etc. In my city, at least, I get busted for downloading full, english episodes of shows, movies, full games, and certain music videos. But the rest they don't enforce, and it doesn't say its illegal. It probably is in other places, but not here. I'm not rationalizing, it's fact. Maybe read my posts again?
