Personally I don't care. I don't download illegal things anymore, so I'll think it's funny the next time someone gets busted for it on the news.

First things first. RM2k and RM2k are both ILLEGAL if you've downloaded it. I know this goes against Cardinal Busterman Zero's proclamation, but it's true. There is no grey area here.
Second of all, if you download something that you otherwise need to purchase, then you are stealing it. It doesn't matter about copyrights or anything like that. There is a ton of copyrighted material on the internet that is free.
You people need to get your facts straight and stop living in your dream world.

Dude, they can't enforce these laws. They can bust some big fish, but us little fish are more or less safe. They'd waste too much time.

I personally have downloaded dozens of films, games and music. I managed to get the best part of 80 gig last year and I'm certainly not going to stop, even if this new method came to this country. I cannot afford to buy all the games, films and music I want and if I can get them free, legal or otherwise, I will. I'm quite confident that I won't be caught. If Kazaa and other file sharing programs were suddenly tagged, do you not think that other, cleverer programs will immerge? There is no way that the sharing of files will ever be stopped.

Some artists actually want you to download their songs. Take System of a Down's most recent record, for example. The name of it was, "Steal This Album". I'm pretty sure they're not against downloading music .

To all of those know-it-alls out there: 40 year copyrights, pregnant dog. Elvis' music is MINE. So is Mickey Mouse. f**k, I can download original Mickey Mouse cartoons because the original drawings were made in 1902, which means it was free since 1952 (it was 50 years way back when, if my memory serves; which it does poorly, I might add) , so f**k you!
And about renewing copyrights: Shutup, I've never heard of it being done, although I'm almost 100% sure that it CAN BE done.

Why are you being so hostile for no apparent reason? B) Um, actually copyrights last for 70 years without heir, but otherwise it lasts until the death of the heir of the copyright holder. Disney has in fact been renewing Mickey Mouse for this entire time (which, in copyright time, they've only had to renew a few times). Whether the original drawings are illegal or not I dunno since 70 years have passed since they've been drawn, yet Disney has renewed. Either way maybe it's you who should get your facts straight.

Or maybe you should stop being whiney and think Rolin's comments are directed right at you.

www.copyright.gov/circs/circ15a.htmlWe're both wrong. ^-^ And I'm sorry if you read it as being hostile. I curse casually, and what I said/typed, if anything, was said/typed mockingly, and not with hostile intent. And it can only be renewed once, whaddya know. Thank you Goverment Copyright Offices.

OK, OK. First things first.
A couple of days ago, about Thursday 11th (No offense intended) I saw the news article here in Australia thinking that they meant everybody. I spoke to someone about this and they made the good point that Buster Man Zero did, that they might catch big fish like the people copying songs onto disks and selling them, but they won't bother with people simply downloading illegal games and sharing them with their friends. Therefore, it seems this was a false alarm and there is no reason for concern. Sorry for any worry I may have caused.
