Hi! As some of you know, I am currently in holiday in Australia and I have heard some worrying news on the TV which may not have reached countries such as the UK but is certainly common knowledge to those of you in the US.
Recently on the new, there was a report on some new equipment possessed by the US government used to catch people downloading pirate music (and games too) to their exact location and prosecute them with heavy fines and jail sentances. There is a possibility this software will be used shortly in other countries and could prove problimatic to those downloading pirate software such as Rm2K and emulators. I don't know how this situation is gonna turn out, but I just felt like I should let everyone know in case you didn't know already. Thanks for your time.

Bah, we we're downloading freeware, as the english version of Rm2k and Rm2k3 does not exist. Aure, they can sue the guys that translated it, but we can get off quite easy. Now, Kazaa users and such will get in serious crap.

They're gonna kill us?! Haha. I don't think anyone will get that joke 'cause I don't know anyone here watches Friends. Like said before, I highly doubt the government is going to go after every single person that tries to download a song or program. It'd be more productive to go after the massive file sharers. I don't think they'd race to a 15 year old kid's house because he downloaded a couple songs .

You most probably do not know, but a 12 year old girl got sued for it.
They (RIAA) first made a treat of 150,000 dollar a song! But the family of the girl only required to pay 3000 dollars. So..
I don't think they'd race to a 15 year old kid's house because he downloaded a couple songs . Yes they will, they sunk THAT low.
They make it LOOK like they care, but have they ever come to your house to lock you away for dling music
Over 200 people have been sued already..

They're targetting people who have downloaded 1000 mp3s or more, in general.

It sort of worries me. I haven't used winmx in a while. If rm2k3 get's taken of websites (which i doubt cause they only really care about little kids with about 2 songs and charge them $900.00) there is one solution. *irc*

there's over like 900,000,000 people that use it.. there's nothing much they could do.. even if the put quotas and sue for redicious amount of money.
Any true artist doesn't care if their songs are downloaded.. they're happy just making music.. any one doing it for money are nutsheads and make horrible cliche crap that was all made in the 50s.
I for one. .only download rare songs, or songs of ablums that have gotten beaten up.. or if I can't find the artist.. or if I'm just checking out a new band or album..

This pertains only to people who use Kazaa and other file sharers. Us Rm2kers have nothing to worry about.

This will piss loads of people off. If its going to become illegal to download songs, Mp3 Players are going to become almost totally useless.
And also, i heard that they weere going to link everyone up to a server, on which they can only access certain sites, like microsoft.com. This will make the internet, well, not the Internet anymore. Already, well over 1000 million websites across the world are warning people about this and asking people to join a protest.
There will be a protest, and it will be easily be the biggest protest in history.

If you guys followed this topic at all instead of just little blurbs here and there, then you would know that copyright holders are seeking justice towards the hubs and uploaders, or for the computer illiterate population in the Town, the places where you meet to and download files illegally, or for the computer illiterate Townies, the places that you download the files from, or for those that actually understand female vagueness, things that you do things at that get the things that make things play in your things or on your things.

Well ACB said US does that count for Canada too. I don't really care since I only get video game songs or songs from CD's that are dead and gone.
