Final Fantasy Tactics, Suikoden II, Xenogears, or Anachronox (Not nessecarly all that great, but so d**n original you had to love it).
If you vote for any other game, than you simply haven't played either of these, or don't rate a game by it's storyline. There are a few other games I could mention, but that have even less exposure than Anachronox, so I'll leave them out.
A few of the other Final Fantasy storylines would also be a potential candidate, but almost every final fantasy game had that one small (or sometimes huge, FF VIII Orphanage anybody?) flaw that screwed everything up, plus they were all so similar in the overall outline of the story). This note is mainly here for those who voted FF VII, trust me, even the biggest idiot in the world would have to judge one of the four games I mentioned above any of the Final Fantasy series (I don't really consider Tactics a part of the Final Fantasy series, I never really understood why Squaresoft didn't just name it different since they have plenty of other RPGs and Tactical games out that aren't Final Fantasy titles).
So if you voted for any Final Fantasy besides Tactics, I urge you to try one of the other games either mentioned in my post, or mentioned by someone else, I'm being dead serious when I say anyone would have to judge some of these other game's storylines better than an Final Fantasy storyline.

Hehe, I re-read my post and realize it may have sounded a bit insulting, so I wanted to clear it up. I just put in that blurb about the Final Fantasy series because so many people play some of the series and assume they are the best the genre has to offer, or play quite a few, but flock back to the Final Fantasy series because they set the "standard" (so to speak) for your typical RPG plot. I like to encourage people to see other games without the shadow of Final Fantasy over them, or to branch out period, because I can assure you, you will find something better out there.
Although Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy IX had a lot of strong points in terms of storyline, so much so that I almost would vote them on this poll. The other games don't come anywhere near close to having a 'good' storyline unless you don't consider plot holes and ridiculous plot twists as part of the storyline, each Final Fantasy has a great story, but (as I mentioned above) there is almost always some aspect of the story, usually a plot hole or twist, which screws up everything overall. For an example, in FF VII, the whole relationship between Cloud, Sephiroth, and Jenova had a lot of untapped potential, and what interaction there was between Sephiroth and Cloud was pathetic at best, and wasn't though out very well.
