I'm sure numerous members of RPG Town will sing RO's praises, but then again it's one of the few that people without credit cards can play. I shall offer you the alternative view - that of someone who has played a wide variety of MMOs, many being pay-to-play games. I hate this game. Whilst the graphics were novel and inoffensive, the game lacked anything else above other mass multis. I admit I only played it for a short period of time, only about a week, yet that was enough to put me off. Now that the game has taken to private servers, the issues about a god-awful community are likely to have been resolved (one of the pluses to credit cards is only adult morons can inhabit the gaming world, rather than the child variety), and hopefully the town crowding/selling has dwindled somewhat, but still that isn't enough to save a strictly mediocre game design with a very low budget. My advice is to spend a little bit of money on a real MMO, such as Planetside, or alternatively wait for one of the big games on the horizon, such as World of Warcraft, Everquest 2 or Guild Wars.

Here is better advice: DON'T PLAY MMO games!!! I will never actively play one again, because I have friends and I am bodybuilding, and living an active social life, AND I WILL NOT BE CORRUPTED BY THESE GOD FORSAKEN GAMES AGAIN!!!! Thank God I realized Everquest sucked after playing it for 2 and a half years.
