Yeah, I know when you first saw the topic name you thought, "God, this reminds me of how much I dislike emo." Well, anyways, this game isn't completely what you think.
Anyway, it's a side-scrolling game that features SNES-esque graphics (It uses flash, but it's pixelated to look like a videogame). The bosses have pretty good AI (though their steps are somewhat predictable), and the gameplay system is almost of RPG level. You have hearts for health (i.e. Zelda), and you have a set for special attacks (each character has their own unique special attack), and the bosses you face have HP. Also, another cool feature is collecting and finding characters and recieving passwords (so you can keep your favorite characters even when you're done playing; yeah, it doesn't save, as it's a flash game). The only thing that involves emo in it is the music in levels and cutscenes (Which in fact isn't bad) and the characters you play as.
So far, they already have 4 different games you can play, which are:
Emogame 1.0: This is the original game. The mission in the game is to stop Steven Tyler (for what reason I'm not sure), but it's fun as you get to fight your way through many people (including New Found Glory and MTV). It's worth playing if you're trying for the first time. It'd take about an hour on average to beat this.
Emogame 1.5: This is a side-game, which is titled "Alkaline Trio vs. Hell", in which you play as the members of Alkaline Trio (Woo! Matt Skiba!) and, well, defeat Hell. Pretty short, but seeing as it's a side-game, it seems reasonable. This'll take about thirty minutes to get to the end of.
Emogame 2.0: The ultimate Emogame. Over twenty characters, and around 2-3 hours of gameplay. This game is more of an adventure/RPG than the rest, as you have a lot of choices to go through as you progress in the game. The point to this game is to destroy Friends (They're trying to hypnotize people into changing them and such). You have the chance to kill people from such shows as American Idol and TRL (which I found a bit funny). There are many characters to choose from, from Conor Oberst (from Bright Eyes) and Claudio Sanchez (from Coheed and Cambria) to He-Man and Robocop. This is THE best Emogame on the site.
Emogame 2.5: This isn't exactly an Emogame. It's actually an anti-Bush game. If you don't want to play any of the normal Emogames, I suggest you try this. You get to play as Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, and more! This'll take about half an hour to beat (It took me about 29:50 to finish ).
WARNING: I must warn those who are actually going to play this that there is a lot of vulgarity in these games. So for those who don't wish to see or read anything explicit, I suggest not to go.

Hopefully you don't flame me or anything about this, but I found the game to be enjoyable (after ignoring some parts). Even if you hate emo or just don't know what it really is, just try it out. Really. If you just get past all of the themes in the game, it turns out to be a pretty fun side-scrolling/shooter (especially for a flash game).
