"V-Jump magazine has finally released images and information on Square Enix's next Final Fantasy, FFXII. Details are still sketchy, but from what we've heard there will be airborne assaults of some kind. It seems that the world and the characters will blend with one another very well. " (more in link) individual.utoronto.ca/mkhan/squarenews/news169.htmlDiscuss. Theres one thing I'm put off by, and thats that they look like Tidus and Yuna. Still anticipating this though.

More like the horrifying love child of Tidus and Zidane, and maybe Wakka too...
The graphics look awsome as usual, but my rare edition of the Final Fantasy Prelude for some new character templates!!! *walks across the street to slap a Square flunky upside the head*

despite these small misgivings (I liked FFX anyway, so nya), I'm sure the game will be great

I'm not looking forward to it at all. Just seems like another FF to me . Nothing that great.

Too many brunettes as the main heroine. I miss the days of Terra, White Mage, Maria, Princess Whatever-her-name-was, Rosa and Lenna.

I'm excited about it, so far the graphics look awesome but the male character looks like Hugo from Suikoden 3 (is it just me...?) wearing a jecht outfit. And the female lead.... well.... she looks like Yuna..... Their really running out of ideas... ><

And whenever there's a main male character they just HAVE TO be blonde, don't they? There's always a main character with blonde hair!
Just once I wanna see rainbow colored hair. Seriously. Make it mood hair, so that it shows whether the character is pissed off or happy.

weren't all of the female main roles brunettes? Like BMZ said, not all females in FF had brown hair. The first female with brown hair was Porom from FF4, but the next female main character didn't have brown hair until FF7, which was Aeris (well, Tifa and Yuffie also had brown hair, but you see Aeris first). The other females before that were: Maria (Red or Purple depending on the version), Rosa (blonde), Rydia (Green), Renia (Pink), Faris (Purple), Krile (blonde), Terra (Green), Celes (Blonde), and Relm (blonde). Even after that, there was still Quistis (blonde), Freja (White), Rikku (blonde), and Lulu (black). The female main characters having brown hair is actually really recent. BTW, the male character looks kinda..... afeminent in my opinion. Why won't they make the main characters cool looking again, like Cloud?

Well, not all heroes are cool because they look and act all tough. I enjoy more down to earth characters, my best example being from the RM2k game A Blurred Line. A guy that is fairly average, aside from his visor, gets sucked into the journey of his life. Let's review some FF main male heroes, shall we?
*SOME SMALL SPOILERS AHEAD*
FF1: heroes destined to kill Chaos. No background what so ever.
FF2: Again, no real focus hero.
FF3: Four kids were secretly being trained to save the world. Homage to FF1.
FF4: A focus hero at last! The commander of a country's air force and dark knight becomes a light knight and ends the life of an old enemy of his dad's. I can feel the force, can you?
FF5: Butz was fairly average, being a traveller and all, aside from being trained to fight by his legendary hero of a dad. Plus, he also killed his dad's old enemy.
FF6: No real hero again, but it's arguably Locke, so I'll just use him. Well, he was a typical villager who liked to steal stuff, and then one day the Empire torched his home and he got pissed enough to join the rebels. Man, it all goes back to Star Wars when you think about it...
FF7: Cloud wanted to become a hero, and trained for it, but messed up. I think the term he used once is 'Fallen Star'. He tried to rise, then fell. He's complicated and really messed up. Cool, and kind of average, as don't we all dream of greatness?
FF8: Squall is too straight forward. I'm not going into it. He's like Cloud but changes a lot quicker.
FF9: It's been too long. Someone else do Zidane.
FFX: Tidus is a sport superstar and son of an even greater one. How exactly does he become a hero?

Hmmmmmm.... I coulda sworn that the main characters of FF6 were Terra and Celes. I found that a lot of the story revolved around either of the characters. With the events of the World of Balance revolving around Terra and the World of Ruin starting out with Celes. As for Locke, I agree that he is a main character, but only really in the World of Balance. He plays an incredibly minor role in the World of Ruin, but that's just my opinion.
