Yes, Don Miguel claims that an English version of rm2k3 along with rm2k are being translated. There are grumblings of high outrageous prices for outdated software and rumors that it will only be available to buy online. I was wondering, how many people out there would be willing to pay for it? Do you have a set spending area? Would you only get it if it's freeware? and would you be willing to buy online? I'm sure there's mixed feelings about all this, but just I'm hoping to get some feedback to see how other members in the rpg making community feel about the current issues.
I'll state my opinion: I'd get rm2k if it is at a reasonable price, and if and only if it's available in stores too. If not, it's out of the question. There's no way I'm buying it then.
(Please note I left out a poll because I wanted peoples opinions, not just clicks of a mouse.)

I wouldn't mind paying for it. I would want to see the price from $30-$50. I don't really know if I would or wouldn't buy it if it was only sold online. I probaly still would. I definatly wouldn't buy RM2k since most of us already have it. Even if it is a cheap translation.

Why on earth would they translate both programs? Why not just the most recent installment?
In any event, I’d purchase 2k3, but not 2k. Not because I all ready “own” (so to speak) 2k, but rather because I wouldn’t want to purchase inferior software when a more up-to-date brand is right around the corner. So long as the price isn’t too unbearable, I’ll buy it. I’ve always seen these kinds of game-makers as toys, rather than actual utilities – I’m willing to shell out anything below $100 for a toy, especially such a fun toy. And I’m willing to shell out over $100 for a utility like Adobe Photoshop, especially such a valuable tool. But I’m not gonna’ pay $100+ for something I’ll simply be using to pass the time late at night in the dorms.
As for buying online… sure, whatever. Works for me.

I'd buy 2k3.. then if I find that I can't do some of the things I want to do with it (yeah.. they said its backwards compatable but you never know...) I'd buy the 2k. Why buy 2k? Because then I know I can 'legally' make my games rather than using a bootleg.

I'd buy it. The most I'd pay is 60$ to 70$. It's good, but I wouldn't pay that much. I buy lots of stuff online. Got some of my favorite PC and N64 games online. No point in buying RM2K if you've got it already.

I'd buy it, but it'd probably make it's way to Kazaa sooner or later.

I'd buy RM2K3 it if it was at a reasonable price, considering how much entertainment I got out of RM2K, I remember commenting on the fact that I was having more fun out of it than any of the available commercial "makers" at the time.
I think he means by it being online that you pay for it online, and then download it. If it was like that, I definitely wouldn't buy it; I'd only buy it if I could get it in a box; if I had to import by buying online, that wouldn't be a problem.

It seems likely that neither of them will come out here, so i'd probly have to wait for it to become availible on Kazaa.
If it DOES come out here, i'd be willing to pay about as much as a recent-release PC game costs.

Interesting opinions. My only hesitation for getting rm2k instead of rm2k3 is because like celticshiva said, rm2k3 may not be as powerful or compatible with rm2k. I guess I'll probably wait for someone else to buy rm2k3 and see what they say bout it.

Shiva: Legally make your games? Either way, Enterbrain owns everything that you make with RM2k, RM2k3, and all of their other programs, so it really doesn't matter at all.
ThatGuyInTheCorner: When you could pay the same price for advanced software and tools that are more powerful and sometimes as easy, perhaps easier, or usually a little bit harder to use and actually give you programming experience, WHY would you want to pay $100 for a "toy"? "Tools" are quite a step up, and Enterbrain's "toys" are quite expensive.
Note: Once again, I bring up the fact that RM2k's price was the equal of approximately $80-85 USD. Once again, I say "Sorry" to all of those who hope for a decent price on half decent to decent software.

The big guys at enterbrain have to have some brains in their heads! I can say one thing. Many people are willing to pay $50 at most for it. If enterbrain sells it for anything more, they'd be fools. I'd already have a hard time wanting to pay $50 because it's not worth it. If rm2k3 had enough to offer, I'd possibly think of getting that. Rm2k on the other hand should have a reduced price from rm2k3. Because like all computer software; prices go down with age.
