I believe that DQ7 was the best selling PSX game of all time in Japan, not the best selling game of all time.

Actually, I take back what I said. We're both wrong.. it's the best selling Playstation game ever. Anywhere. I dunno if that makes it the best selling GAME ever, but it's the best selling PSX game ever - which would make it d**n high on the best selling list, anyway.
And to beileve I've been hearing so much "crap" - for lack of a better term - from people calling Enix a "rookie company" or just "trash" compared to Square .. That r silly. I'm sure at least Psygon will agree with me.

People who are calling Enix a rookie company are seriously missing out. Stop playing the Final Fantasy games, and root out some of the ENix games, you won't be disappointed.
I don't think any of the Dragon Warrior games were released in the UK, apart from Dragon Warrior Monsters for the GBC. I'll have to make do with Illusion of Time and Terranigma (which according to Enix's site was never released in the US *grins*).

The "good square name" has been "dragged down" for a while, ya know.

This doesn't even matter I've played the four GBC Dragon Warrior games (DW1+2, DW3, DWM1, DWM2) even more than I've played the console ones. These were enough to get me hooked.

Oh that's Right! I forgot that game was made by Enix too!
Illusion of Time WAS released in North America under the name Illusion of Gaia. A Very Good Game! Teranigma I did get a chance to play on an UK imported system at a friend's house and its pretty good - no its never been released in North America.

The full details, conveniently ripped from IGN
"February 19, 2003 - Square Co., Ltd. crossed its "T's" and dotted its "I's" today as it completed the finer details of its previously announced merger with Enix by clarifying unanswered by crucial points in its immensely significant publishing deal.
Square will merge with Enix on April 1, 2003, and the new, Tokyo, Japan-based company will be named Square Enix Co., Ltd. in Japan. The Japanese company will led by current Square President Yoichi Wada (as president of Square Enix Co., Ltd.). In North America the company will go by Square Enix USA.
Square Enix also is scheduled to end its cross-Pacific publishing arrangement with Electronic Arts on March 31, 2003 and will begin to localize, market and publish its own games in North America under Jun Iwasaki, the newly named president and CEO of Square Enix U.S.A., Inc. North America operations will work from Los Angeles, Ca., based offices. The final fruits of the partnership between EA and Square will end this summer.
"As Square and Enix begin the worldwide implementation of the merger, our goals for the North American market will shift to include not only increasing our market share for our franchises, but also expanding the role-playing game market in North America," said Yoichi Wada. "We are currently evaluating the best strategy to accomplish these goals and look forward to growing our business as a new company. We have enjoyed a very successful partnership with Electronic Arts over the past five years and we are currently exploring opportunities for a new relationship."
Square and EA's publishing arrangement began in May 1998 in North America and Japan.
"We are looking forward to this new structure in North America," said current Enix president, Keiji Honda. "Together, Square and Enix will deliver a gaming experience that everyone will enjoy. We are committed to developing and marketing innovative, creative and original titles. We hope to accomplish our goals by providing quality role-playing games to gamers in North America."
Unfortunately, Square Enix did not announce any new games or cross-company products today. We'll have to wait for more details in the near future, most likely in May at the Electronic Entertainment Exposition."

Doesn't bother me as long as they keep making great games. Also, if they hadn't merged, there was a chance (I don't know how big) that Square would have run into finicial problems and collapsed or something bad like that.
And for those who don't think Enix is good they make way more creative games than Square does. Star Ocean and Valkyrie Proflie come to mind.
