I'm still upset that Enix never brought the PS version of Dragon Warrior IV over here. DWIV is my favorite DW and I was anxiously awaiting its remake.
Hopefully we get some quality games from this merger. That's all that really matters, right? Who cares what they name the company.

Funny, I was about to post this and found this thread.
EniSquare sounds better than the others to me.

Enix S would cause some confusion with a certain horrible 80's band: INXS

EniSquare? It's Enix Square Inc.. or Square Enix Inc. I've yet to get any validation as it's reported either way at different places.

First of all.. this has been a rumor for years! Glad to finally see some 'proof'.
I like the name Square Enix, myself.. not that it matters.
Yes, Enix is responsible for Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior (both the same series, just Dragon Quest is the japanese version name). They also produced Actraiser, and several other good games that I can't recall of the top of my head.
I am also dissapointed that they didn't release Dragon Warrior 4.. the original nintendo DW4 was the first RPG I ever played, and it got me hooked!
No matter what happens, I'm sure we'll see good games coming from square. This merger seems to be to merge technology more than anything, and it makes sence. Two people doing the same task (developing tech) on their own don't get as far as fast... two people working together are better than the sum of their parts.

"from square"? Don't you mean from "Square Enix Inc." or whatever they call this new company?

"from square"? Don't you mean from "Square Enix Inc." or whatever they call this new company? Whatever happens we'll see good games coming from Square. If they merge they will produce games as part of the new company.. if they don't merge they'll produce good games on their own. I said "Square" because I was reffering to that currently existing company/team and the comment wasn't relying on the merge. I say this because I have yet to see any game that I was truly dissapointed with from Square. There have been games that were less than stellar (Thread of Fate comes to mind.), but I was never totally dissapointed. I HAVE been dissapointed by Enix games. Dragon Warrior VII was two thumbs down, sadly.

I truly enjoyed Dragon Warrior VII, but I can see how some wouldn't. And theres no "don't" about their merging, 'cause they are merging, wether anyone agrees or disagrees about the outcome. And that said, Square can't make good games after they merge 'cause Square won't exist

Anyways.. I'm not quite sure what square can gain from Enix in the merger... I mean.. its seems that Square is more technologically advanced than what I've seen from Enix. Is there more to this that I'm missing?

Square is losing / is far less popular in Japan then Enix is, and Enix is far less popular in the States / Europe then Square is .. So they help each other out there. And I dunno about saying they're not technicologically advanced .. Look at Star Ocean 3: 'Til the End of Time or Grandia X-Treme ... both look good to me. www.enix.com

...Squenix...
Nutz, good square name will be dragged down the drain. Chrono Trigger was ok. But I don't see it better than others like FF7 or FF9...

Oh! Good point! I forgot Star Ocean was made by them too. SO1 and SO2 were really good, and advanced for their time (I think SO1 was the only Super Famicom game to use voice clips) Havn't played 3 yet. And I was aware Enix was more popular in Japan.
Oh well.. should be interesting.

Why do you think there will be any problems, Inquisitor? Final Fantasy games will still be made just like they always were. And I don't think the "good Square name" will be "dragged down" as Enix is extremely more popular in Japan and will probably RAISE the "good Square name" to a better Square name. And vice versa with Enix in America.
And do you (you as in everyone) realize the best selling game ever was made by Enix? Dragon Warrior VII sold over .. well, at this point I'm sure it's 7 or 8 million copies or so, but it sold just 6 million+ in Japan alone in the first month or months or so.
And you (as in everyone) also have to realize there are many, many great Enix games we just don't know about here in the States that never left Japan .. and with Square's stateside popular we could see these!
