Had this game for a week, according to the status sum up thingy, I've played for approximately 14 hours, and am 72% though it.
I'm not sure whether you'd call this game a "proper RPG", but I've heard Ocarina of Time referred to as one, so I'm posting here.
It's obvious that it's trying to be like OoT, from the Control System (pad and on-screen), to the battle system, and even one of the bosses had one of those cute introductory screens that Zelda's had. It's obviously vastly inferior, with many of the elements which made OoT so brilliant lacking (for example, the story which I can easily compare to my own for Eristek: The Orbs (for the less informed, it's utter crap) and the fact that some of the puzzles are pretty illogical, relying more on luck than skill), but if you want something to either fill the gap until the next Zelda, or over in t'UK even for the next Metroid (I actually think I can draw more similarities with Super Metroid on the SNES than OoT), I wouldn't say no to giving this a go, although it might just be one of these games that you'd be better off renting for a week, playing non-stop and then return.
I'll probably end up writing a review once I eventually complete, as there are many intruiging things in the game which I could comment on (including the fact that a team of American-voiced animals (Starfox Team) go to a small, isolated planet in distress, habitated by Kings and Queens of dinosaurs and weird creatures with numerous British accents).
Anybody else played?

I have it. I've played about 11-13 hours, somewhere in there, and I'm 60% done. I'm stuck on the little minigame where you have to stop the little thingies from stealing that one person's eggs.
I like it. A lot. The matrix-style fighting is great ;D

Yeah, I know roughly where you are; there's only one way to get through that bit, perserverance. Quite good fun, though.
I'm gonna have to try and find out how exactly I manage to get Fox to "repeatedly use his stick in a circular motion", because despite being phrased dreadfully, it looks great, and is immensely satifying, as with most of the game. Even the annoying things give a great sense of achievement when completed.

I hear the game is fantastic, except for one thing that Rare always seems to like doing: Make you collects every d**n thing in the game. Seriously, did you play Jet Force Gemeni? There's no way I'm rescuing every little Tribal in the whole galaxy. Mizar can go ahead and crash a meteor into the Earth, I'll just go to the Big Bug Club (In Ichor) and dance my troubles away. *Ahem* but anyway, I'm getting off-topic. SFA looks great, and supposedly plays great, if it weren't for the fetch quests.

Yeah, there is admittedly a lot of collecting bits and bats, but there isn't that much to collect, about 10 major items in all, they just take ages to get each one.
I didn't like Jet Force Gemini (one of the only Rare games that I didn't, along with Donkey Kong 64), but quite like SFA.

I liked Jet Force Gemini.
I didn't play it much, though...

Rare constantly keeps reusing ideas for new games. But they still make good games.

I picked up SFA. Only played a little so far. I am enjoying it. Have to play some other games first before I dive to deep into it though.

Finally completed it, in approximately 18 hours (not including cheat tokens, can't be bothered), and I would have to say that you should definitely give this one a look if you like any of the following: a) Zelda: Ocarina of Time b) Super Metroid c) Lylat Wars d) Starfox / Starwing e) Crap Voice Acting, but in a good way. <opinion> I've come to the conclusion that Rare's career so far has been like Spielberg's: made quite a few brill games, and although this one is heavily flawed, it's still really good. The A.I. of his career, if you like. </opinion> EDIT: Here's my review of the game: www16.brinkster.com/deeleanpro/reviews/sadp/review.htm
