First off, Morrowind has some of the most stunning graphics I've seen in a RPG to date. The gameplay is easy to get into, and the diversity of characters allowed is a nice change.
Now the problems. The first thing I noticed was that my lone, Dark Elven Swordsman, quickly developed a murderous attitude towards people on Morrowind mainly because they lacked any real character. One shopkeeper was just as expendable as the next -- and that went for anyone wearing cool looking armor as well. I simply stopped talking to anyone because I was presented with the same exact dialog choices over and over again.
Secondly, without a horse, teleporter, or Silt Strider, it took hours to travel around the island looking for the one stupid dungeon someone on the opposite side of the island wants you to find (ie. Fed Ex-style quests galore).
Lastly, it wasn't playtested enough. Imagine my frustration upon finally becoming a vampire after an agonizing swim to a far northern island, only to be sent on a quest in order to be accepted into the vampire guild to get a ring from someone who would not talk to me because I was a vampire. Hmm...oops?
For those of you with the console version, I cannot understand how you get by without much needed patches and mods that make the game bearable (merchants carrying more money mod, pack guar, etc).

Yeah, I really didn't like the game very much. A lot of the expansive world was a whole lotta nothing, the battle system is...click click click click click click, you really didn't do a lot of heroic things...I could go on and on, but it might just depress everyone or attract flaming like bug zappers.

Well, the X-Box live users will be able to download patches to games like this - I doubt mods will be possible, however. I'd give my opinion on the rest, but the game dumps me to the desktop halfway through the character creation process.
