ok so if i wanted an event to occur later on in the game, i would have to make an event before that with a swtch that will allow the event later on in the game to occur?

If you mean that you want a second (or more) event to play beyond the first that you code on a map, then you need a conditional for the second (or more) to start. This can take the form of a switch, but is really only limited by what you decide (switches, variables, items, levels, and more all work as conditionals).

ok.....cause i want to have a part where you enter a place but you need a ticket to ride the boat to another place. i want the ticket holder to say where's your ticket? none....than you cannot ride because there is a gate in the way. than when you find the ticket, he will say where's your ticket, oh there it is, aboard and the gate opens? How would i do that?

Just create a normal event with the "Where's your ticket line?", then create another event that is triggered by condition "Item 'Ticket'" that removes the gate (or has the ticket man, upon being talked too, walk to the gate and open it, which you'll need a new conditional for to change the graphic).
