I have albums by both Shania Twain and Slipknot in my CD collection, and everything in between. My passion is for progressive metal, though. Especially neo-classical melodic power symphonic operatic progressive metal . Whatever that may be. I like things to have focus on the music as well as the lyrical content, and I like theatric and artsy elements. Otherwise, I just like cheap pop songs with catchy choruses. Or Death Metal.

I really hate how now-a-days, people have to be all like politically correct with what kind of music that they like. Like progressive rock and pop punk and death metal. Everyone should just say like, rock, or punk, or metal, or whatever.
I like punk.

Those are subgenres.

I know, and I think they're pretty lame. There's like 900 different types of metal and it's annoying. There's heavy metal, death metal, grunge metal, and tons of others.

well metal if a form a rock.. like grunge and punk..
rock is a form of blues.. and blues is a form of jazz.. and jazz
Jazz is a from of American big band folk..
Industrial isn't a form of rock since it orignated in 1907 (I think) with frist machince made music.. ( it was big machince that had a little string.. you pull the string to change the pitch).. Techno and club music is an offspring of indy.
then there's Classical and Folk. and most music is just a type of folk.. even trible music..
so really there is only 2 types of music.. or just one.. and that music.. though since its an art.. any person that makes it just for money, then its not really music.. more art less bull nuts (for lack of a better phrase)
and now bands just mix and match.. like my band is plays whatever we feel like.. style goes by song..

I'm mostly into [glow=red,2,300]ska[/glow] (points at name), punk, reggae, skacore, bit of hardcore.
Funny how many genres are just words with 'core' added to the end. My favourite would have to be Piratecore.

I like, ah....
Ska, punk, a little bit of emo (I mean, c'mon, my brother has an emo band, and it sounds okay...), and Avenged Sevenfold. I don't know exactly what section they'd go in, but one thing I know is that their music sounds like heavy metal music from Halloween...
EDIT: I always consider that genre "Pumpkinhead" music.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but early this past summer, I was sucked into loving Hip-Hop/Rap. I've been studying the history of it and can now actually hold my own opinions as to which rappers I think are ill, and which I think are absolute trash.
As of right now, I'm into mid-90's Hardcore rap, both East and West Coast. I bought The Notorious BIG's "Life After Death" a couple of months ago, and just bought Tupac Shakur's "All Eyez On Me" recently.
Speaking of Tupac, if he ever makes his return from wherever he is hiding (He is not dead) then it will be this November. It's been 7 years (A number he used in so many bizarre and mysterious ways, it's not even funny) since his alleged "death" and this November, a movie and album are being released named "Tupac: Ressurection."
If you would have told me this past April that I would be saying all this, I would have probably shot you.
EDIT: That's Biggie (The Notorious BIG) down in my sig, as well as the man my name is under in Shiguru and Chicken's sigs.

If you would have told me this past April that I would be saying all this, I would have probably shot you. I probably would have done something similiar, but I seem to have been drawn into rap somehow. I'm still a Rap n00b though (I don't know anything about it really), with only Nas' I Am accredited to my name . I don't find Rap to be overly emotive, although I find it to be quite intruiging, and not half as bad as I thought it was. Lessee now...I like Pop, Guitar Pop, Pop Rock, Alt Rock, Heavy Metal, Prog Rock, Prog Metal, Rap, Death Metal, Classical (also a n00b in this area). Hmm..

I'm not much for rap.. I don't like the lack of music to it.. (beats down really count.. and since most of it I have heard is to similar (beat wise) and that just makes it seem boring) Though I do it enjoy bands that rap like Orange9mm and Pop Will Eat Itself ("not now james, we're busy" is a great song)
