Given a choice between the two, I'd take the middle road.

ABL without a doubt. There is no contest there, sorry Kamau.
LS is not like an ultimate RM2K game series or anything, they're just enjoyable whereas ABL is absolutely incredible.
ABL has a much better plot than LS, which is the most important thing for an RPG.
Like Psygon, I am absolutely miffed about why people have chosen LS...
No offence to your games there, Kamau, but they just cannot compare to ABL.

What I liked about LS goes beyond the plot. Sure, it has serious homage to Suikoden. But it's still its own unique series. It has an entire world and timeline at it's disposal. We still don't know that much about the world of ABL.
Also, Kamau is skilled with stuff like duels and wars. That's a plus. He also has CoS, which has Zelda-style fighting. ABL does have a Zelda-style part later on, but its overall custom features weren't that impressive, but the CMS and aura system was. I put the games on the same level for custom features because they average out about the same.
Battle animations and non-RTP chipsets gives LS a huge advantage. Lysander admitted a while ago he's had trouble with his attempts at BAs similar to that of LS2. Plus more of his graphics, mainly the chip sets, are RTP than the stuff Kamau uses.Yeah, LS1 was pure RTP, but 2 and 3 had a lot less than ABL.
Character developement and plot is what gives ABL a leg up. The characters in ABL, many as there are, are quite developped, aside from the gang members. And, of course, the plot is brilliant.
Overall, I give LS a 9.2 and ABL a 9.1. They're that close in my opinion. A few more custom graphics and chip sets in ABL would probably change my mind.

If you want to play a game for it's graphics, go play some crappy Platformer.

I don't play games for graphics, just RM2k games for everything including graphics.

Well, I only play RM2K games for plot.
I never look at the graphics, because you know that they'll probably all ripped, and the more RTP graphics, the less ripped.

Unknown Dude - Register.
The thing about the game being like a Suikoden rip-off, but it isn't really, is that most games have plot based on something. LS was based on Suikoden. I think Bloodrose told me once that his Tale of a THousand Years was originally based on something, it may have been LOTR...

You know what I meant. ;D
Anyways, the very first RM2k game I played was LS almost two years ago, but when I played ABL, I instantly fell in love with it.
LS isn't a Suikoden rip-off, but it was inspired by it, which means LS wouldn't be as great as it is without Suikoden. ABL however has a very original, appealling story so you have to give some points for that.

Now what was it that reminded me of ABL? I think it was 'The Seeds of the Hybrids,' which was written in 1995 by Alex Durran. A futuristic story about human evolution and genetic 'seeds' that, once planted, gave the host supernatural abilites. Kinda reminds me of Talan and his powers, because a deaf guy named Valik had a seed planted on him and it let him hear perfectly, and he could even sort of sense movement with his ears. He somehow determined what the sound was using sounds from his memory and stored new ones as he went along. Another guy was given a seed that made him ageless, kinda like Kersh. This may just be a coincidence.
