Im very new to AFI. I got their album earlier on in the week and I must say, I'm impressed. I've always known about the band through afiguy (now Figgy) but I'd never really listenedt to them. This is my review.
Miseria Cantare (The Beginning)
First song on the album. Very good epic sounding song. Drums play throught out the whole song, I cant hear any guitar.
8/10
The Leaving Song Part 2
This song is their new single. The vocals are well done and the instruments are top notch. One of my personal favourites.
9/10
Bleed Black
Another very good song. Again the vocals are well done and so are the instruments, my only gripe with this song is that it reminds me so much of Girls not Grey somehow.
8/10
Silver and Cold
And yet another superb song. Starts of with a mini drum solo. Davey Havok the lead man puts his unique singing voice to its best use in this song.
9/10
Dancing through Sunday
One of my favourite songs on the album, fast paced and well done. Has and excelent guitar solo, 80's Rock n Roll style.
10/10
Girl's Not Grey
My least favourite song on the album, vocals for once are not done very well. Instruments are still the best.
7/10
Death of Seasons
This song has a very dance leaning bridge in it, It actually makes dance/rave/trance sound good! Though most of the song is screamed it is done very very well, another of my favourites.
9/10
The Great Dissapointment
This song takes a while to get into as the intro is quite long. Has a very good chorus. Another of my favourites.
9/10
Paper Airplanes (Makeshift Wings)
Another fast paced well done song, thats all I can say, oh and it has some very good guitar riffs in it.
8/10
The Celluloid Dream
Another good song. Moderate Pace though the vocals arnt as good.
8/10
The Leaving Song (Part 1)
I dont know why The Leaving Song and the Leaving song Part 2 are named the same as they sound nothing like each other. Very solom song.
9/10
...But Home Is Nowhere
This song takes the album out with a bang, the vocals are the best and so is the instruments, by far the best on the album.
10/10
Overall
One of the best albums in a while, with all the new crap coming out this year this is got to be one of the best albums of the year. I highly recommend AFIs album to anyone.
