Before we get started, this is *the* underrated and overlooked RPG available for PS2 (at least in my opinion). It's pretty aged now, but just today I started playing it again.
Story 8/10
The bizareness of the game is evident within the first hour of the story. The beginning of the story begins with the hero's father bringing home a magical lamp of mystery. The next night the circus is in town, and the hero's sister is possesed by a ghost in the middle of the night. The curse...to forever have a tongue that only speaks Pig-Latin. So to heal her daughter, good old Dad does a sacred ritual involving the magical lamp, and of course the lamp contains the spirit of Evil King Stan. To heal his sister, our hero becomes the servant of the Evil King. Obviously, the Evil King has ambitions of his own to fufill, and who else better to do it than the hero?

Gameplay 7/10
Simple, but fun. The battle system is actually a copy of Final Fantasy, even though this has absolutely nothing to do with Square. You wait for your bar to fill up, and lo and behold when it is fill the respective character can do an action. There is a few originalities, like the LP system. If you played the SNES Super Mario RPG you are familair with this system. LP is the points you spend for using magic and skillls, and instead of having a seperate value for each character all three combatants share out of the same LP Pool.

Music 9/10
I absolutely love the music to this game. It is a cool mixture of a haunting and light-hearted feel, and there is only a few songs that I didn't like listening to.
Graphics 7/10
The graphics are nothing that will astound you, but they are good. It is mainly enhanced because it's distinct style. Most of the designs can be best compared to Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas.
This is actually the hero's house
Nice view...
You can see some of the bizarre people designs
Characters 8/10
Alright...the characters aren't meant to be deep or emotionally charged, they're supposed to be fun and there isn't a single character in the game that isn't fun (excluding the hero, he's 'the silent protanginist')
Don't let Kisling's stare freak you out
Overall: 8/10 (not an average)
Alright...this isn't a great review, hopefully I didn't leave anything out. Anyways, I definately recommend at least a rental...but I doubt you'll actually be able to find this game. Maybe Used Games stores...
