Wow, i just remebered that Hayao Miyazaki's spirited away was entered for the best animation oscar...and a few days late i checked the website and he'd won it, they actually voted for the best film rather than whatever garbage disney churned out, well done oscar voting people who ever you are, and well done to you Miyazaki....YEAH!

Ah, yes. I missed that part of the Oscars, but Spirited Away definitely deserved it. I really wish I could have seen that part of the Oscars, especially if they did an "acceptance animation" like they did last year. that was a great movie, though, I hope it comes out on DVD so I can buy it. Also, it's ironic that you say Spirited Away beats whatever Disney can dish out, because Spirited Away is a Disney film ^_^.

Spirited Away is a Disney film (Edited by Blake due to the posters lack of common intelligence.) Anyway, I'm real glad that the Academy recognized something good over something with a hell of a lot of money behind it. Maybe more people will find out about anime because of this.

Yeah, that's what i meant. It was distributed by Disney. They didn't do anything to make it, they just kinda sponsored it. So maybe now Spirited Away could be a world in the next Kingdom Hearts! Who knows?

What the hell are you talking about? My post originally read that while the movie had been distributed by Disney, it was a Studio Ghibli film, which is correct.

And Disney is also the one who screwed it up for me I wanted to see it so bad, but the closest theater was an hour and a half away, that's a little ridiculous.

It's supposedly being re-released this Friday in about 6 times the original amount of theatres, so anyone who missed it still has a chance.

When someone says "this is a Disney film" I am supposed to realise what they mean is "this is IN NO WAY a Disney film and was merely distributed in the north american region by them?" Er... right.

whatever garbage disney churned out (Shoots ignorant Brendanfrizco). Oh, and I saw it when Spirited Away got the Oscar. I was pretty excited, and Camron Diaz announced it .

I was delighted when my R3 Copy of Spirited Away landed in the post yesterday. When I'd watched the film, I was even more delighted. Absolutely bonkers, but captivating in every single way. Fully deserving of its Oscar, although I couldn't really compare it to the quote "garbage that disney churned out", as although distributed by them, was a completely different style of film. I wouldn't let any toddlers watch it either, as there are a few fairly disturbing images within (not in that way, it's still a PG ). It was indescribable, and the only thing that I can really say about it has already been said. Captivating in every way.

Finally saw it, a d**n amazing movie too. It was bizarre, but that's what makes it so awesome. Watching the Radish Spirit and NoFace and all those other creatures is what makes it great. Perfectly deserving of an Oscar, can't wait to get in on DVD.

I don't have to wait! I got SA on DVD for my birthday! ^_^ The features rock, as I can watch the original japanese version. Same for my Kiki's Delivery Service and Castle in the Sky DVDs, which I got as well. Excellent movies.

I got it too! ^_^ Great DVD to pick up, no doubt about that.
Does anybody know who that John Lasseter guy in the beginning worked on? It says he won an Academy Award, I'm guessing for Toy Story. It was funny, he's there praising the movie and I'm like "...Who the hell are you?"
