(Yeah, this might be similar to the Teen Love topic, but it's not. Besides, I'm feeling creative again.)

Love. A simple word for a complex idea... the whole concept of love is difficult to truly grasp. Before one can understand love, they must understand hate... pain... jealousy... you know, the direct opposites. Kids today ( ), or at least the majority of them, don't know these things. They had their needs catered to, their mouths wiped for them... what could they possibly know of love? They certainly know lust, but these people have never had to think on their own. Everything's been fed to them through our old friend, the media, leaving little time for personal reflection and one's own establishment of values and wisdom. And I stand by the maxim 'one cannot truly know another until he knows himself' - and from my observations, quite a few people have no idea what they're doing, talking about, possibly even thinking. The sad truth. Things like these are what hold us back from ever making any true advances, at least beyond technology and science. We're still primitive, irritable, and hormone-driven, save a select few who have experienced and endured true, agonizing pain (beyond physical). Until one can differentiate between love and lust, we're little more than dogs as far as our range of emotions go. I'll be apt here, go out on a limb, and say that I know very few people who know themselves and are capable of true love. After all, if you don't even connect with yourself, what chance do you have to connect with someone else?
