I doubt we'll get off Earth before our planet's time ends for whatever reason anyways.

I disagree.

Indeed. Think about it. Unless a huge disaster takes out the Earth before it's time, I'll bet we'll be well into colonizing other worlds.

Well, we could get whacked by a comet, but it's more likely we'll do ourselves in. The mess we're making of the environment and the increasingly tense relations between certain nuclear powers don't paint a very cheery picture for our future. The massive amounts of capital and manpower it would take to colonize another planet make me sincerely doubt we'll be living anywhere but this mudball for quite some time - if ever.

TOO LATE!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!11111111 ;D Ahem. Although by current knowledge, the universe is expanding, and in all likeliness will continue to expand, it is still infinite (the only way the universe could be finite is if it had positive curvature and thus would go into a Big Crunch). As far as we know, the universe is primarily flat, which means that it is about equal to the necessary limit to have a Big Crunch happen, but that it'll recollapse after infinite time. I wouldn't worry too much, personally. We'll be dead and gone, and the Earth itself gone too by the time we ever get around to such an end. Why? Why do you talk? It hurts...

Ok... I've now reached my conclusion that your soul purpose in life is to make me miserable... Was my reply not supposed to be short? Especially since I wasn't debating anything in that post?

Yeah, I don't think ST is happy unless he's debating something .

Hmm. Indeed. Of course, we can't go without spamming now can we? Anyway, back on topic, I'm right you're wrong. Anyone care to continue the argument?

There is yet another theory which states that we'll never reach the end of the universe (even if it does exist). Its called the Van de Satte theory or something...anyway.....
We assume that as things get further away from us they speed up. This is largely based on the 'Big Bang' theory, so if you dont believe in that then you cant really believe in this. Anyway, when celestial objects get to a certain distance away they are travelling at the speed of light. This is called the Van De Satte horizon, or whatever the name is. Once stars/ galaxies/planets e.t.c are over this horizon they are travelling over this horizon we can never reach them because:
1) They are travelling away from us faster than the speed of light and in theory we will never be able to do that, or
2) The horizon is the point at which if we send a ship travelling at the speed of light towards them we will never get closer or further away from the body. Therefore, anything past the horizon has already gont too far for us to reach, even at the speed of light.
So...no I don't think we can ever reach the edge of the universe because 1) The theory above and 2) I believe that the universe is constantly expanding and so there is no edge.

Pah, we're all dead and this is hell. I mean, why else would we be not able to avoid dumb presidents and wars?

Pah, we're all dead and this is hell. I mean, why else would we be not able to avoid dumb presidents and wars? Good point. I think all of these government systems and war will eventually cause us to plummet into a nuclear holocaust, ending all that is human and animal life. But thingyroaches... that's another story. ...I'm gonna go to bed.
