What will happen if mankind got to the edge of the Universe? What do u think would happen? If mankind ever developed the technology to get to the edge of the universe, would it stop? Would the shuttle smash to pieces? or does the universe go on forever? wil we ever know?
There's a lot of questions there!

To say that the universe has an edge is to claim that a sphere has a corner. I don't think we can quite understand how massive God has made this universe and in most of matter pertaining to it's creation.

There may be a point where matter is no longer present, but it seems to me likely that there is no actual 'border line' to existance...

Actually there has been lot of discussion that Earth doesn't continue forever. It will explode about billion years after. Maybe Universe doesn't continue, I don't know.

I think the universe goes in a great circle and if you keep going in one direction, you will come back where you started.

How long does it currently take to get to Mars? Six years? (Smack me if I'm wrong.) You should see how far away Earth is from Pluto in comparison to its distance from Mars. Then you should have a look at the Solar System in comparison with the rest of the Galaxy. Then with all the other galaxies, and so on. There's a lot of space out there. In the forseeable future, I think we restrict it to Science Fiction.

I'm not sure...

Whatever the distance to Mars, it's still in comparison to the edge of the galaxy an extremely short distance. And remember that there's loads of galaxies. We're still a long way off travelling around the Universe as a whole.

Hehe, even most sci-fi books stick to our own galaxy. As CSC says, we're not going to be going galaxy hopping any time soon.

People once thought elephants hold this world and other thought it's flat. They didn't even imagine that people would actually go into space. People will do thinks and technology we can't even imagine.

Hehe, isn't the elephants concept in Discworld? ^_^ Yeah, they probably will invent things that we'd never dream of, but that won't be for a loooong time. Not in our lifetimes, at least. It's difficult enough just going into space, exploring it will be inevitably even harder.

I thought Discworld was on the back of a gigantic turtle? Wasn't the elephants hindu or something?

No one will ever have a complete understanding of the universe. The interpretation of how and if you can get to the end depends largely on what you believe. I have no real position on this, but I will provide one possible answer which may never be proved. In one theory, the Universe keeps rapidly expanding thus, at it's current rate, it is estimated that the speed of expansion will keep speeding up. It involves a whole bunch of theories behind this. There's three possible outcomes to reaching the end with this theory:
1. The universe will expand until it collapses omitting some type of negative energy like anti-matter from what I think I remember. Therefore, the universe would be destroyed before we reach the end. I for one doubt this will ever happen. 2. The universe is infinite, always has been, and never ends. 3. We'll never reach the end before our time on Earth is up. Interpret the previous statement however you want, I don't want a huge argument from Sleepy Templar.

TOO LATE!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!11111111 ;D
Ahem.
Although by current knowledge, the universe is expanding, and in all likeliness will continue to expand, it is still infinite (the only way the universe could be finite is if it had positive curvature and thus would go into a Big Crunch). As far as we know, the universe is primarily flat, which means that it is about equal to the necessary limit to have a Big Crunch happen, but that it'll recollapse after infinite time.
I wouldn't worry too much, personally. We'll be dead and gone, and the Earth itself gone too by the time we ever get around to such an end.
