(This is mainly for smart math people)
I put this in the debate section because I know that it will begin a debate. So here it goes why does e^(Pi*i) + 1 = 0 prove the existence of god? I heard some people talking about it and i got confused.

This is a new one.
Would someone kindly explain how a naturalistic math formula proves a supernatural entity?

One of those things we'll never know. while we're on the topic of Math proving the existance thing - how is 42 the meaning of life (anyone heard that one)?!

Biblically, 42 is the number representing the coming of the Lord.
And Sleepy, it's not all about you.

Biblically, 42 is the number representing the coming of the Lord. Eh? I thought it represented "life, the universe, and everything." As far as I know, it was just something Douglas Adams came up with. I haven't heard this biblical bit before.

I just closed the window I had open about Bible Numbers...you should be ashamed...
The one I found was from Ed Vallowe (Not Ballew.)

I asked my brothers science teacher when I picked him up from school (he's pretty much the best science teacher in the area ... he's won a lorra awards ) and he studied astronomy and physics and stuff liek that at university, and he said 42 is the meaning of life because there is a space nebula (suprisingly enough, in space..) and its supposed to hold the key to all life. Upon further inspection, it turned out that this nebula was actually 42 - hence, 42 is the meaning of life.

Well I am a Physics with Astrophysics student at Manchester University and I can answer these questions. exp(Pi*i) = -1 If you want to know what this means, exp (or e) is an EXPONENTIAL, a maths thing which is very useful Basically, e's special property is that its gradient is equal to itself. Does this mean anything to you? No. It doesn't. I wouldn't. It's just a bit of maths Pi is 3.1415....etc.... it is the circumference of a circle divided by its diameter, or the area of a circle divided by the square of its radius. Still not clear? It is a very significant number. i is called an "imaginary" number, a number which does not exist. i is actually the square root of -1, which you may know doesn't exist. So, all this equation is is a PROOF that i is the square root of -1. Why this causes debate is probably to do with - why is an imaginary number rated to a circle? How does the path of electrons relate to an ordinary number, Pi? Physicists are stumped. I can assure you, I've had conversations with Dr.'s at my university about such a thing and they are amazed. However this doesn't prove God exists, it just proves that electrons act very strangely God doesn't factor in here. All it is is a lack of knowledge in this area, but we are working on it Now, the 42 theory. This is the work of Douglas Adams, a comic genius. It is just a joke. Nothing more. Read his work, it's very good

....wow.... screw my science teacher, i'm sticking with you! I don't understand most of that, but it sounds so scientific it must be true.
