Any evidence for reincarnation, JoshYuy? Or is it just wishful thinking?
Considering in order to see you need A) working eyes and B) a working brain in order to proceed the sense data and dead people have neither, when dead, you don't see anything. Period.
I suppose a good analogy is to think of when you're asleep. Minus dreams, you have no experience nor realization of your current situation. Extend that indefinitely, to where you go to sleep and don't wake up, and you have an accurate picture of death.
Note that neuroscience, evolution, and biology support such a materialist position. Have a pleasant day.

[glow=red,2,300]Well I watched this REAL tv show about death and they said that they were trying to rescutitate and African women, she was clinically dead and when they brang her back to life, she said she saw something to do with death but something in her heart told her not to tell anyone. And how do you explain ghosts? I reckon that when you dide, you have the choice whether to be in reincarnated or stay behind as a ghost. But that reall doesn't make any sense does it? Ah well, I tried.[/glow]

KREMZY:
What credible empirical evidence for ghosts exists in a peer-reviewed scientific journal? None. Subjective experiences are not credible unless they can be validated. In the case of NDEs, why do you think a naturalistic explanation doesn't exist? Certain theories do exist (such as using drugs such as ketamine to induce NDE symptoms), and although they may not be conclusive at the moment, we have yet to find a problem that doesn't have a naturalistic explanation. Hence, Ockham's Razor suggests we assume a naturalistic explanation exists until one shows otherwise.
Nice bit of wishful thinking at the end. Do you have any rationale for that belief, or are you blatantly asserting?
Besides, if you're going to support dualism (substance or property dualism? Or epiphenomenalism?), I'd like to hear you resolve the unintelligibility of causal interaction that dualists have problems with. How does a non-physical object influence a physical object, when that requires energy/matter, something this "ghost", "spirit", or "soul" wouldn't have due to its non-physical nature.
Secondly, how do you respond to increasing knowledge in sciences that show the "soul's" dependence upon the brain? Damage to the brain can result in a dramatic change of personality (Phineas Gage, for example). If dualism was correct, one would expect to see otherwise.

Heres what I think...Humans are another creature on earth, but we have amazing brains. We beleave that we are almighty and we own this planet, this is because of greed.Over time as we start to think about how we got here in the first place we come up with many different ideas on the topic,Then we get into the meaning of life. I think the meaning of life is that there is no meaning.I think when you die your brain dies and when your brain dies the greed dies.Basically while your living, you will care about life because you have a brain to care...but when your dead...Your dead forever and you wont go on, you loose the very thing that makes you worry. All pain goes away, all suffering goes away...do you know why? Because you go away....Thats my idea...Please write back...

ILLEST:
So you're a materialist existentialist too? I do disagree with you on some matters. First, there is an objective meaning of life: survival and reproduction. Next, there are plenty of subjective meanings of life people discover for themselves.
In addition, it's not greed that rules the human race, it's selfishness. Selfishness per se isn't bad, since this is important for the individual to consider themselves in regards to survival. However, excessive selfishness (since we are social animals) leads to moral problems amongst ourselves.
Humans think themselves almighty because overall we have attributes which give us a Darwinian advantage over the world that isn't present in other species to the extent we have. And such an attitude isn't held through idleness: we have worked for our ability to improve our lives and control and understand the world around us.

I think our spirits go to a parallel universe that's just like Vegas and you can gamble all you want, sleep with whoever you want, drink whatever you want, and it all doesn't matter because we're dead!

But think, there are millions of possibilities of what happens to you when you die. I don't think any living human could know what happens to your soul once you die. Paradise & Hell is one of those millions possibilities.

My Belief:
There is a heaven and a hell, when someone dies who has NOT asked Jesus Christ into their heart they go to hell, a Godless place of pain, anger, frustration and darkness
But when someone who HAS asked Jesus into their heart dies, they go to heaven, a place of joy where "the streets are paved with gold"
Sleepy Templar: If im right, we both die, I go to heaven you go to hell, if you're right, we both die nothing significant happens. Considor that.

About that going to heaven or hell thing.
What happens if a person who lived the purest life (helping the sick, giving to the poor, saving lives.) dies but does not believe in Jesus? To the hells with him?
What happens if a person who was very selfish (bought things only for himself, run other people out of business, pushed people out of his way, kicked stray dogs in the street) dies but truly believes in Jesus? Come friend, join us in heaven?
I'm not sure whether i believe in Jesus or not. It's a confusing time for me. What I do know I believe in is GOOD. The power that compells people to help each other.
I personally believe that when we die, our souls go into a long, deep, peaceful sleep where we can rest in happiness for all eternity. We can sleep knowing that there'll be no supernatural alarm clock to wake us up. ;D
Also on the topic of reincarnation, isn't there a finite amount of matter in the universe? Perhaps our souls continue on in the great circle of life?
