I also raise this question: DOES ANYTHING HAVE A "PURPOSE" ON THE INTERNET? DUUUH I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR THE ANSWER TO THIS PUZZLING MYSTERY!!!! Flaming people with non-sensical crap sure does make you look intelligent, yup-yup. Anyways, I read through the entire thing via Wum's post. It was interesting, to say the least, though I suppose the end was a bit disappointing.

To Blakeman or perhaps some other whiner (Sorry if it is not you Blakeman. It just seems your style of post), you should know that when a person writes in first person, they are generally talking about themself. Also, you don't have to hide your account name Since you've dared to stand up to Maxy, I think I will leave this topic open so that he can crush your puny argument into the ground. Enjoy. Please don't flame in the future.

Oh, you figured out it was me! Incredible, RPG Town's "super sleuth" solves another mind-boggling case!! My lord, I can't stand the thought of my well-constructed argument (which took me a whole of 2 minutes to create!!! ) being crushed so easily into the ground by Maxy And yes, when someone writes in first-person they usually ARE talking about themself, however, that still DOES not change the fact that he NEVER SAID "THIS IS MY STORY". You just assumed he meant it! When I read it, I knew he didn't write it, you know why?! Because he didn't post it in the CREATION GALLERY! Hard to believe that people post in the proper sections, isn't it?

I guess he does have a point. Though, to avoid any confusion or arguments next time, Link I ask you at least comment that "I did not write this" in large bold lettering for others to see.

Yes, he does. I live up to my account name. Well, since it is implied, he doesn't need to say "THIS IS MY STORY" like a total cretin. No kidding, genius. Yes, it is seems this board is temporary and people at the moment post most topics in General Discussion so don't try to act clever.

You do have a good point, but I think he foresaw this argument and therefore didn't put anything down, yet did not state that he wrote it. He might just like arguments? HOWEVER; whther he did, or did not write it, is besides the point. It's been posted to enjoy, and I hope you do read the whole thing, as it is a very good read!

In the real world, if you do not acknowledge somebody else's work and make no indication that it wasn't yours originally then it is deemed plagiarism - there are no two ways around it. I don't believe this was completely intentional by Link, but to say it isn't plagiarism because he never said it wasn't his is ludicrous. Are we to automatically assume that everything posted on this forum is a direct copy from someone else's? To reiterate, without crediting the original author this can be deemed to have been an attempt to pass someone else's work off as their own.
I think we should strive to give RPG Town more of a purpose than to reproduce items found on other forums, don't you? Everything has a purpose, without exception, it's just up to us whether we consider this to be an adequate purpose for a message board we frequent. I personally do not, I want more from RPG Town than what I can find somewhere else. I call it "original content".

Well, luckily there's an entire forum section devoted to that Maxy, which I stated before. Also, this is NOT the real world, it's the INTERNET. There is a difference

I'm not sure what you're trying to say? There is one board on RPG Town for original content?
A URL would have sufficed - it wouldn't even have needed crediting, because a link is suitable enough as a reference. Just because this is the internet doesn't mean laws and common courtesy should be abandoned. The story of the scam was intellectual property of the original author; I'm sure he was happy for others to enjoy it, but it is a different matter when someone else claims to have written it. Link did not, that is true, but by not adding a disclaimer or URL of the source of this piece he has effectively attempted to pass it off as his own. You saw how the first few responces clearly did not realise that it wasn't his article and that is an injustice to the creator.
Just because this is the internet doesn't mean we shouldn't show the same respect to authors as we would in real life.

He copied and pasted the story, hence the first person.
This isn't being published, this isn't for a grade, a recommendation, and is of no use other than for enjoyment- So why pound the crap out of this thread with the whole plaigarism thing. This is why I really don't like you guys . . . You take anything that is intended to be a fun thing and beat the nuts out of it with the Politically Correct Stick, and by the end, all you have is the satisfaction of being "right" and making a thread go off topic which is against the rules as Inq very well should know, and a bunch of people that don't want to post in that topic anymore, and forget any fun that was in it.
Just for any posts you make towards this reply- "OMGGZZ MY ARGUEMENT HAS BEEN CRUSHED!"

How often exactly do I ruin threads, hm? How much effort is it to credit someone? I don't see what the issue is here. It is common courtsey. It isn't the first time I have brought this up so I'd hoped I won't need to again. Is it so wrong to want to currently stale RPG Town to be something more, to offer something that other forums don't rather than repeating their content? If you don't agree then congradulations, you're an idiot.

You're still wrong! He seperated the introduction witha line so that is actually a part of the story. It's sitll not saying he wrote it.
