Inspired from LM's welcome thread... how many of you would be interested in trying to get an RPG Town band together? It wouldn't be so hard to work. If anyone can play an instruments, produce (to a certain extent) songs or sing, then post so in this thread, preferably with a recording of you Then, we each record our own section, send it to the producer and put it together! If this works... well, it'll be good. We could start with some covers of songs, to get used to playing the way we would be. In my opinion, the best way to learn songs through tabs is powertab! www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=17736 - the program mirrors www.powertabs.net - the main site, where you can download the actual tabs. All you do is click browse or search, go to the artist/song you want, then download and open (after you've installed the program, of course) Anyway, I hope I get a response to this, 'cause If I don't, I'll look quite the prat.

Hah! I'm not going to reply to this and make you look an utter prat! ...whoops. It's certainly an intruiging idea, albeit one which could be a good laugh or a complete disaster, but providing there is a certain degree of organisation it could be decent. My suggestion is to start off with something fiendishly simple. and work from the same tab, most likely using PowerTabs. A song like Judas Priest's 'Breaking the Law' is relatively simple in all of its parts and would prove to be good fun. You would have to have the drums cobbled together first so that everyone can work their parts off that, I'd think. If not by real drums, then at least using MIDI or sampled drums as I have been doing. Once everyone has a recording of that they could work on their own parts. It's not as wacky an idea as it may seem initially: at one point in their career Pink Floyd recorded albums going into the studio one at a time, so I don't see why we couldn't, providing there was any interest. Two samples of my "work", if you could call it that are at www.pbenstead.plus.com/files/dutd. The first is a song called 'Celestial Eternity', a largely repetitive but intruiging song that I wrote, my second major one in my eyes. The second is a recent revamping of my first song 'Digging Up The Dirt', a song with embarrassing lyrics and embarrassing playing, but should provide a good example of how things could go together on a project such as this. I recorded each part on both songs separately: I am, I suppose, a one man band on both. Lessee if we get any more interest.

I'm up for it. I play drums, guitar and write lyrics aswell as compose.
CSC has uploaded a wav of a song of mine, its incomplete and I made it in about 10 minutes but its an example of what I can do. I used Guitar Pro 4 (tab reading programme which I manipulated for midi composition) for it but I can play it in real life.
Its in the folder he posted (http://www.pbenstead.plus.com/files/dutd/) called "RickyK_Torment.wav"

Also, that really reminds me of For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica I heard the intro and was like 'omg bell' and then I was like 'wate no' and then the verse and I was like 'omg bell' Edit: Wrong song

Right now I'm trying to learn to play bass and/or guitar, so I'm not good with those right now.
But surprisingly, I do work on vocals, though I'm not sure if I'm that good (I can't really hear myself while I sing, or at least the actual tone of it... you know what I mean), but I could give that a try. Maybe. I'm not always up to singing that much for other people. But I'll give that a shot though. ^_^

Sorry, I'm untalented in that department ever since I returned my brother's guitar to him. I could pass off as the road manager/ security guy, however, what with the gun and everything.
