Anticipating the new movie? Read the books lately? Thoughts on the books? Thoughts on the movies? Favorites? Anything, have at it.
I've read the Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of the Secrets to get prepared for the upcoming movie. I can't wait for it; the trailers look awesome and I'm glad it's coming out before I leave for Florida (Disney World, yeehaw). The first two movies underachieved but I expect nothing short of greatness in the third movie.
Anyways, have at it.
In other words, let the 'kids book'/'not a kids book' discussion commence.
In my opinion... Harry Potter is definitely not a kids book. It's for everyone with an open mind and an imagination, namely, all ages.

I don't mind the books. They're not great, they're not terrible. I haven't read the latest one yet. The movies, on the other hand, sucked. Period.

I loved the the 4 books that I read when I last read them, which was years ago. I didn't really like the first film, and so I didn't get around to watching the second film until last week, which I'm ashamed to say I rather enjoyed.
The main thing which hinders both movies is that the child acting all around is so poor. It's a shame, as I think every adult actor in both of those films excels, and there's some of my favourite actors in both: John Cleese as Nearly Headless Nick, who does the voice of Shrek's dad in the new film; Mark Williams was good as Mr. Weasley; Branagh as Lockhart was great; unfortunately they cut out Rik Mayall's role as Peeves from both films, and 'forgot' to place his scenes on the DVDs (he was essentially the reason why I wanted to see the first outing originally).
The 3rd one I'll probably be seeing sometime next week, and I look forward to it. Its director has already done a few fairly okay movies, as opposed to Chris Columbus, who has produced such classics as......................exactly.
I think there are much better books out there, but I can't deny that I was captivated at first by the novels, as was probably half of the world.

You have no imagination. The end. No apologies. omg burn I've never read the books, watched the movies, or done anything with it. My friend really likes the movies and books though. She's going to the premiere of the new movie at midnight.

I read the fifth book over the last summer, and I must say that while the book is quite a long adventure (836 pages! omg wtf), all I know is that Harry Potter will never get chicks. He couldn't even get to first base in the fifth book (of seven). The FIFTH book! He's hopeless, man. Hopeless...
The movies are okay, but as CSC, the child acting wasn't exactly what you'd call top notch. I'll still see the third movie, though. I'd rather go to the movies than sit at home doing nothing (doesn't include going on the computer ^_^). Especially during the blazing summer.

Wait and see the other people's comments. Don't care about their comments. I think they suck.

I read them in hopes that one day Harry Potter will grow up and marry me and then we can live on the Wizard's Coast. ^_^
Actually yeah I do read them, and I like them too. I don't know if they're particularly good or not... but it's nice to have something to read before bed that you don't have to think about. I also like how they're getting fatter and fatter so it takes longer to get through them.

I'm a fan of the Harry Potter books - they certainly aren't the best pieces of literature ever written but they are children's books after all (which can be enjoyed by adults).
Unfortunately I have lost a lot of the enthusiasm I used to have for the series, the latest book was somewhat disappointing, the films even moreso.
Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite of the book.
