What is the best compression tool? Example: Zip, Rar, Ace. I want to know what is the smallest.

Why not just use all three? First zip it, then compress it with rar, then again with ace. It would make it REALLY small.

In my experience with compressing, rar has been the best for me (and takes LONG for huge jobs like compressing a game or something). Using all 3 compressors on the file(s) won't affect the compression at all (or noticeably), just the first one you used.

I've gotten enough "Bad CRC" errors on downloads that take 20 hours to complete that I tend to avoid all of them whenever possible.

You'll find that ACE is the best compressed, but it's also the least common, and has the most errors. RAR is slightly more common, and slightly less compressed, and hardly ever has an errors. ZIP is the most common, the least compressed, and has the least errors. Take your pick.

I like using zip. I'd reccomend it, because like tool said, it's the most common.

Jakey: I ZIP then RAR things all of the time, and it reduces the size significantly. Either or will just reduce the size a bit, but together the file size is practically nil.
I've had NO errors with WinRAR EVER, while I've had so many errors with .ZIPs that my head is spinning.
I hadn't even heard of ACE before a week ago, so I can't really give an opinion on that.
