users.domaindlx.com/CloudStrifeMaximum/silentchaosnopercussion.midThis is a song I made in Anvil Studio by mixing together some random notes. All of a sudden, I had a song! The song is called Silent Chaos (No Percussion Mix) and it's a minute and 16 seconds long. It's not really that great of a song, but I'd say it's good for a first composition.

It certainly does have a random feel. It's an intruiging listen, although it wouldn't accompany anything. Anvil Studio's a great program, though, providing you have at least a little knowledge of musical notation. Oh, and when you're mixing together random notes (I do it), make them slower. This was my first composition: www16.brinkster.com/deeleanpro/eristek/wind.mid (Copy and Paste Link if it doesn't work.) This was the last piece that I made: www.pbenstead.plus.com/files/CSCMIDIs/FA/Song%20001.midBoth are made in Anvil Studio. Do the same thing (use random notes, and delete the ones that don't sound right), then add an extra instrument, and do the same thing, but make sure that it fits with the first instrument, then see if you can make a tune. Don't bother with bass or drums yet. It helps if you look at how your favourite bands make their songs, and try to duplicate that. EDIT: <Inflated ego> If you like the first track, I have a remixed version that I composed on a keyboard in mp3 format. </Inflated ego>

It's very, very bad I'm afraid. It really hurts the ears. Study Anvil Studios more before you show us midis.
Also, don't take this the wrong way. This isn't a bad comment, a begginer is supposed to make midis that sound bad compared to others. A pro shouldn't.
As for me, I also have a bit of experience with music making. At first, I've been making midis with NoteWorthy. Good program, but then I switched to a whole other level, Cakewalk Home something something. Both are excellent, move to them after you have a bit of experience in Anvil.
(I lost all my midis. Maybe I uploaded them... CSC, do you still have a few?)

It's...erm...not bad. For a first try, anyway. I think you might need some more practice, though...in fact, alot more practice. But don't give up! I've been making MIDIs, WAVs and MP3s for about a year now...a great program to start off with is FruityLoops...you can probably find it on Kazaa, but I'm not sure, because I don't use it. Search for FruityLoops, or FL Studio 4.

Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 is really good. It's what I use.
