Alex stood in front of the burning city, not saying a thing. More innocent have been forced to suffer, he thought. He shook his head and raced into the flaming streets, trying to avoid flames while looking for survivors. Before he'd begun he'd wrapped a bandana around his nose and mouth to keep out the worst of the smoke.

Rolin strolled down the main road which led to the city square.
Rolin was talking out loud, barely able to hear himself over the crackle of the flames. The screams in this area had ceased, and a few random yells could be heard in far corners of the city, but nothing beyond that. "I know that I saw people moving around in here . . . What else could it have been? Rippers raid towns often, but they don't know how to control fire, even though they aren't afraid of it . . . It takes me back to that encounter in the forest . . . What WERE they? How did the flutes have such power- How did MY flute have such power? It doesn't-"
Rolin stopped hard as he put his foot down. "Something is here!" Rolin slowly brought his right hand over to the handle of his blade on the opposite side of his body. Slowly, he unsheathed the sword. The blue-crested letters danced in the light from the surrounding flames, reading "Gwinmírív"- The sword's name. It came from some ancient tongue, and the meaning of the word had long been lost.
The letters shone a pale blue, as opposed to the red hue of everything else- Just as they usually did. The tip of the blade came down to Rolin's ankles as he continued his walk, with his ears twitching and his eyes scanning his surroundings to the best of their abilities.
There was a gash in the flickering of the flames to Rolin's right side, and a figure came forth at an amazing speed. Rolin stared at it as it charged, and Rolin could make out a curved blade . . . Blood covered its body, with crimson wings stretching behind it, spreading out as it leapt at Rolin.
Rolin readied himself, blade presented before him and what he presumed to be a foe . . . When just then, there were footsteps behind him.

Layne came upon the street where his daughter lived. There were people rush around trying to put out the fire. The damage wasn't as bad but the fire was spearding quickly.
"ROIX!" a women's voice called to him. It was the mother of his daughter. She was alright. definitely tired and very sweaty. Layne quickly run over to her. "Jessika.. where's Rhiannon?!" He asked almost demendingly. Jessika replied with tears in her eyes anda soft voice. "she's.. she's.. I donno" the poor young mother ran away crying. Layne could feel his is entire spirit almost implode at the sound of the words. "I must find her" Out of nowhere he could feel a strong sense in a certian direction coming from his flute.

Walking down the streets abosrbed in his thoughts, Kalvin soon found himself lost.
He hated this place.
Not just the city, the whole bloody wastes. He hated his world with a passion. He felt like the whole place was closing in and choking him. He hated having to fight to survive, he hated having no other choice.
His head spinning, Kalvin nearly collapsed next to a nearby building, barely managing to grab at a windowsill to keep himself upright. Staggering a few feet, Kalvin vomited all over the street, then collapsed unconcious.

Zero heard a scream coming from a burned alley between two buildings, and quickly raced into it. Two children, a boy and a girl, were huddled under some rubble that served as a shelter. Zero raced over to them and beckoned for them to come with them. They hesitated. "Don't worry," he told them. "I'm here to get you to safety." The kids, still nervous, went along with him anyways. Tucking one under each arm, Alex raced away from the scene, where flaming timber came crashing down moments later. Alex quickly ran off to the outskirts of the city.

Rolin turned and tried to get a sight of whomever- Or whatever was behind him, but he couldn't see it, and the creature in front of him had already begun its assault.
Their blades clashed, and Rolin could clearly see the wings of the creature flapping- More like twitching, but it was quite rapid enough to keep the creature afloat and above Rolin.
Round and round they went, clashing swords every second, the creature practically always on the offensive. Rolin noticed another figure similar to the creature that he was doing battle with, but it was dragging a small child along as it ran. Rolin had no time to wonder why it didn't just fly away, or anything else, he had to concentrate on the fight.
After much more battling, the creature withdrew about a story into the air and back before swooping down upon Rolin. Rolin readied himself and absorbed the blow quite well, but got his right shoulder slashed by the tip of the creatures blade as it flew off. It stopped, turned around, and ascended quickly as it prepared for another attack.
Rolin's blade dropped to the ground as he knelt facing the creature. "The flute!" he thought. Rolin took out the flute, and placed it to his mouth. His eyes opened wide, then quickly and calmly shut. "I hope this works . . . " Rolin said under his breath.
Rolin went into a deep state of thought, and each second seemed like ages of his life. He remembered the song that he had played at the gates . . . Almost too perfectly.
Rolin cut his song short, and his eyes opened in an instant. The fire in his eyes was more furious than the blaze engulfing the city, and the creature staggered and came to a stop in the air. Rolin picked up his blade and lept at the creature. A burst of winds picked him up and flung him at his opponent.
Rolin thrust his blade through the throat of the creature, and his left hand, which held his flute, went flying behind him. They soared towards the ground quite quickly, and landed with a crash. Neither opponent so much as twitched once they had stopped being thrown around from their landing. Both lay on their backs, and Rolin's grasp around his flute loosened as it rolled out of his palm and onto the road.
The creature began to rise, using its wings to send it up the blade until it came to the guard at its base. It grabbed the handle and slowly and calmly removed the blade from its throat. The blood on it, which both it and its victims shed, all moved towards the gnash. The blood flooded the cut on both sides and inside. Its throat took shape, and the skin around it sealed up. It raised the blade to eye level and looked at the runes, as if it were experiencing deja vu. It cackled, then lowered the blade to its side.
The seemingly invincible foe slowly walked to Rolin's motionless body, knelt down, and placed his sword beside him. It smiled slyly, and spoke a few words in a deep, almost demonic voice.
"A human . . . Wielding a flute and a magic sword. How interesting . . . I should be glad that he didn't know how to use either properly, but then again, he is just a human, after all . . . "
The creature trailed off, then started walking towards the town square, in the direction that the other figure had fled to with the child. Unlike its brethren, however, it took flight, and with amazing speed.

Layne's body was tingling with energy coming off the flute. It was still pulling him.. faster and faster with each step. All the sudden he was stopped. Body still tingling, he looked around.. There was a building, which wasn't burning as badly.. "help me.. help me.." Layne could barely hear over the flames. But he knew who's voice it was..
Layne rushed into the building. Rhiannon was surrounded by buring fallen planks. "Da..Daddy!" the young girl shouted.. "Rhia! I'll be right there!" Layne then noticed that under the the planks were 2 oter kids, that were obviously dead.
Layne couldn't find a way to save Rhiannon. He felt a strong sense come from his flute. He pick it up and try to play. Every note sounded prefect.. his body began to glow and he invisioned to large arms reaching throw the fire and picking up her up and bring her to him. 2 large ghostly arm apeared from Layne's body and proceeded to retrieve her. Rhia was a little scared, but trusted her father. She was saftly deviered her to him. "That was strange.." she said. in the same warm sarcastic tone as her father. "ha. tell me about it.. you mother is worried.. lets get the hell outta here, Rhia." And they left the building.. though Layne couldn't remember what direction he came from.

Alex set the kids down by a large rock, and told them to stay there, and that he would be back. Without hesitation he turned and ran back to what was quickly becoming a raging inferno.
Running past another collasping building and being forced into dropping into a roll to smother some sparks of flame, Alex continued his search, and spotted someone familiar. Layne stood there, a small girl beside him. Alex felt a sudden flare of panic as he came to a realization: the building was collapsing! "Layne, look out!" He shouted, running towards them.

Layne looked towards Alex. Then he noticed the building about to fall.. He grab Rhia and tried to run as quickly as he could. Knowing that he would most likely not survive he tried tossing his daughter to Alex.

(OOC: Yeah, I'm going to have you killed... Others bear in mind we planned this next part out a bit) Alex caught the girl and dove backwards. A large piece of flaming timber crashed down where he had been standing, seperating him and girl from Layne. Pulling himself up while keeping a tight grip on the girl, Alex got up. "Find a way around!" He shouted the where Layne possibly still was. "I'll meet you by the large boulder to the East of here!" He quickly ran off, speaking softy to the girl to calm her as he ran.

Dawn came a few hours later . . .
Rolin slowly got up, his body in extreme pain. He would have screamed from it, but couldn't muster the strength to. He felt water all over him- It had rained, albeit briefly. Rolling around, he slowly brought himself to his feet, though leaning on his sword, hunched over.
After resting for a few minutes, he grabbed his flute and put it away. After sheathing his blade and checking his crossbow for damage, he put it away and started his way towards the town square- That would be where the people would gather.
Looking around as he walked, he noticed that the flames had completely ceased. Rolin knew that a little bit of rain couldn't have done such a thing, but he shrugged it off; why should he wonder why the flames had stopped? It was a good thing that they did, so the reason couldn't have been bad in any way, could it?
Rolin stopped, and his jaw dropped in awe. He sighed a breath of relief as he watched at least 20 creatures in the same armor as from the forest distributing food, building temporary shelters, and talking to people.
"Why are they here?" Rolin asked himself, out loud.

Alex sat with the children he'd saved earlier, waiting for the others to return. Layne had found his way back, along with his wife, and Alex had reunited them with their daughter. He had sat there with the kids for past three hours, waiting for the others to examine the remains of the fire, a possible clue as to why it went out so suddenly, and to find Rolin. He'd gone missing. Alex sighed and watched the two kids throw rocks at a tree. To be so young and innocent again, he tought.
(OOC: Hey, Alex doesn't know that Layne and Jessika aren't married, he just assumed they are)

(ooc)Jessika isn't Layne's wift.. they just have a child together from "teen love" (ooc)
Layne felt like crap. He had hide himself in ditch all night when he noticed a winged thing flying around. He was glad that Rhia was safe though he wondered how seeing her friends die in the fire would effect her.

Rolin walked into the square, looking around in amazement.
"How?" He asked himself. "Why are they not afraid? Most of the townspeople fear one another, why would they not fear these creatures, kind and helpful as they may be?" One of them approached him.
She sproke brightly and cheerfully, as a little girl would at a celebration. "You haven't any wounds on you! How wonderful!"
Rolin's body still ached, and he wasn't his usual polite self. His temper got the best of him, and he raised his voice.
"Why are you here?!" he yelled, as if scolding a child, so that the entire square could hear. "It was your kind, wasn't it? That attacked dur-" He was cut off by the creature placing her hand on her mouth, looking around suspiciously, and shushing him.
Her tone became as stern and harsh as his, as she neared him closer, eyeing him down. "Be grateful that you are alive, and for some reason practically untouched. I don't know how you were able to fight one of our dark brethren, or how you were able to see them for what they truly are- Just like how you know what I am and see what these people don't. But it doesn't matter! Just stay here with the other humans and treasure your lives until you can no longer live them."
Her eyes were getting watery, and she was breathing heavily, sort of crying, only holding it back. She turned her head down, and started to walk away. She stopped turned to Rolin. "Leave here before they come again. They didn't get what they came to take, for you and your friends are still here."
She wiped a few tears from her eyes, and began her brisk walk back to the other side of the square, yelling back. "The name is Annaria . . . Tell me when your group will be leaving, for I shall accompany you!"
