Due mainly to the fact that I recently acquired the rulebook, I'd like to see how many people would join a Vampire: the Masquerade RP, using the actual rules. I would be willing to do this either over AIM or on the forums, and I would be the Storyteller. If you'd like me to do this, please, tell me so here. If I get enough people I'll send you the character making rules and everything.

I'll probably join. By 'using the real rules' do you mean we can have battles and stuff? Or is it just rules on characters?
Just a thought, MSN would work better than AIM because more townies have it (I think) and the ability to multi-convo (maybe AIM has it, I don't think so)

For those of you who don't know, Vampire is set in the "World of Darkness", a parallel Earth gone horribly wrong. Among the world's dark denizens are Vampires, Werewolves, Wraiths, Changelings, Magi and even Demons from the bowels of hell itself. This is only one of the World of Darkness games, but it is certainly one of the best.
You are a Vampire. A blood-sucking beast descended from Caine, the first, who was cursed by God himself. You are not like the legends, for stories often lie. Garlic? Hah! You scoff at the stuff. A stake in the heart? Sure, it'll paralyze you fo a while, but kill you? Not in the least. Sunlight? Yeah, that's going to cause you a lot of pain, but as long as you're back at your haven by sundown, what does it matter?
By taking on the role of an immortal Vampire you become part of a secret society. Mortals do not know you exist. Why alarm the prey of the predator's presence? There are two major factions in the vampire world. The Camarilla and the Sabbat, each with very different beliefs. The Camarilla are founders and enforcers of a tradition called The Masquerade. A set of laws to keep your kind hidden. The Sabbat on the other hand, fewer in number, endorse open violence and the destruction of those who are not of Caine's blood.
I'll try posting the different clans here as well but I don't think it will fit in this post...
The Camarilla:
Clan Brujah: A clan largely composed of rebels with and without causes, Brujah are most likely to be gang members, bikers and pretty much anyone who opposes the majority. Brujah usually prefer physical stats, but will just as easily swing for mental or social skill.
Clan Gangrel: Of all vampires, Gangrel are perhaps closest to the beast inside. They tend to prefer the outdoors to the confinment of cities, but will gladly live in a park if possible. Gangrel tend to be from loner stock. Those who have mental and physical resiliance. They prefer Physical attributes are common among them.
Clan Malkavian: Malkavians are all completely loony. Every last Malkavian across the face of the Earth is incurably insane. They will take their childer from practically anywhere, though most prefer to embrace those already near or beyond the doorway to madness. All Malkavian characters must take at least one mental defect from the rule book (Or you could work one out with your DM, either way). Despite their insanity, Malkavians have a reputation for being extremely wise and/or intelligent, Malkavians take mainly mental stats.
Clan Nosferatu: The good, the bad, and the really, really, ridiculously ugly. All Nosferatu become extremely deformed at the time of the embrace, as such, most can barely pass for human. The Nosferatu are extremely useful spies however and can be very intelligent and strong. (My personal favourite. Who needs a high Charisma score when you can hide in the shadows and pick off your enemies one by one.)
Clan Toreador: Toreador are the artists of the Vampire world. They covet all things beautiful. Social abilities are prized among this clan. If someone is really interested in one of these I'll write more, otherwise I'll go from experience. No one uses them.
Clan Tremere: Sometimes called the "Warlocks" this clan is obsessed with the recovery of ancient magic in the form of Thaumaturgy, Blood Magic. Some say these vampires are indeed, not descended from Caine at all, but a group of Magi from the times of old who sold their humanity for their magic. They usually are possessed of a great intelligence.
Clan Ventrue: The aristocrats of the World of Darkness, the Ventrue are the gears behind the Camarilla that make everything work. They are manipulative, they are arrogant, and they are rich. Most Ventrue have high social skills.
The Sabbat (AKA: The fun stuff):
Clan Lasombra: The Lasombra resemble the Ventrue. Only thousands of times more evil. The Lasombra have the power to control shadows themselves with the discipline of Obteneration, using the very power of darkness itself to aid them.
Clan Tzimisce: The Tzimisce are perhaps the only clan as ugly as the Nosferatu. Only these guys bring it on themselves. Trained in the discipline of Vicissitude, they can melt and mold flesh to their will. All Tzimisce frequently rearrange their body into monstrous shapes. Twisting their image as they desire. Mental attributes are most prized among this clan.
The Independants:
Clan Assamite: Hailing from the barrne deserts of the east come the Assamites, and with them comes a miasma of terror. Assamites are the perfect assassins, period. Most of the clan's members are women, and female assamites have batter attack against males. This clan prefers physical attributes, with mental a close second (They say this, but all the assamites in the book are so d**n sexy).
Followers of Set: Set was not a god, but an Antidiluvian, one of Caine's grandchilder. These are his descendants. Sneaky and underhanded, they have earned the nickname of "The Serpents". A Setite will not help anyone without having an alterior motive. Their main stat groups are social and mental.
Clan Giovanni: The Necromancers as they are sometimes called, hail mostly from italian stock. These guys are OBSESSED with the dead, and the practice of raising them. There's too much to put here so if you want one IM me.
Clan Ravnos: Gypsies, the lot of them. These guys are like Gangrel with the power to use illusions.
That's all for clans folks. If you have any questions about this post here or IM me. In answer to your question and suggestion Lunar: One, AIM is better for mulit-person conversations because more people can be in the same room, and two, yes we're going to be using ALL the rules. If you don't have a few d10s you'll want to either pick some up or have someone roll for you.

I would like to join, Patryn ^_^ I have played Vampire: The Masquerade once or twice, and played the PC game a couple of times, too. I don't know the rules off by heart or anything, and I haven't really played very much, so I'm still just a beginner

Well that's three, unfortunately I may not be able to storytell this now. I'll try my best to hang onto the book but I may have to give it back. Come on though, we need at least one more person.

Which part, the one about the book? We can always make things up or improvise, can't we?

Hmm...Well, we could yes, but this game without rules would be...different. I'd rather wait and play a game I actually have a book for. I should be getting Tal. the next time I have money so I'll probably wait until then.
