METROID PRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But of all time... Doom, because it was the game that really got the genre going.

I've heard Metroid Prime is fabulous, but I've never played it. The only games I played from this list is Quake and Unreal Tournament. I don't like Quake, so I'd vote for Unreal Tournament.

Out of that list, Goldeneye 007 and Doom are amazing, Metroid is supposedly amazing, but I'd hafta vote for Wolfenstein: unbelievably cute, and you get to kill stereotypical Nazis as an added bonus. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was bitter cold and unbelievably awful, however.

[shadow=red,left,300][glow=red,2,300]HALO! I don't really like Metroid Prime, I think it was a mistake taking it away from platform, and I also like Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, but that is more of a third person.[/glow][/shadow]

It's still a platform game. Just made into 3D... It's all the same old Metroid gameplay only transformed into the visor view of Samus.

Halo is definately my favorite for 2 reasons. Reason number one: Great AI. The first time you see an elite roll out of the way of a grenade and then proceed to stick a plasma to your face with a counter throw...it's scary. Or when a marine jumps out of your warthog (the jeep) when he has a grenade stuck to him in order to save you and the third marine his fate -- simple, yet nice touch.
The second reason is the vehicles. I've yet to find another game that really uses vehicular combat well -- with the exception of Battlefield 1942 that is. Red Faction was laughable in its attempts to integrate vehicles -- the jeep HAD to be manned by you and the driller was used for a game time of about 6 seconds... Half-life mod vehicles are just moving blocks of geometry, and that alone should cue the amount of problems that entails. Games like Medal of Honor are just...silly when it comes to vehicles. Players basically move along a set track and blast things...that's like calling the rollercoaster mini game in FF7 a vehicle.
But I digress, Halo doesn't disappoint. And when Halo 2 comes out with twice as many vehicles, Sarge in his reincarnated form (at least we pray that this is so), and even better AI, the FPS genre will feel the tremors. Tremors I tell you!
