Hmm... Well like the subject line alludes to, I am pondering making an LS fan game. It's been on my mind for ages, ever since LS2 came out. Which seems to be where 95% of the series story seems to be. Seeing as it introduced the Prophecy of the Legions, The Sword of Legions, Barbatta, and the Concept of Orbs (is it me or are they more like materia then Suikoden's Runes?)
Anyway, to get back on topic, seeing as I started it. I'm kinda working on a LS fan game set a few years before the events of LS 3. It takes place in a number of locations, known and a few not. The story is essentially that you play as a guy hired by Ridman (he's not really much of a presence in the game) to research and if necessary stop the activity of a shadowy cult. The trail leads him across the sea to Veramonde. He arrives in Zerdio, with a peculiar group of passengers, and a growing suspicion.
That's the basic story anyway, there's more to it, which can be gleamed from the title i have for it now, "Shadows of the Orogai."
Features include...
* No Random battles * Hire system (How you get money) * Character and story Driven gameplay
Possible Features... * Duels (If I can get the system to be satisfactory) * Hand drawn cutscenes (If I'm feeling particularly inspired)
My question is though... Would anyone even be interested in an old fashioned experience like this? It's kinda the Radical Dreams equivalent for Legion Saga. 'Cept it's not a text adventure. If there is interest I'll see it through until it's complete.

I'll be a beta-tester as well. Just add me on MSN or AIM. atticusjosh@hotmail.com << My MSN ID. Hand-drawn cutscenes, eh? Sounds good, and original... For an LS game, I mean. But still sounds good.

Well I'm a long ways off from a demo stage. I'm not entirely pleased with the graphics I'm using right now. To put in perspective ninja anime fans can understand, the world of Legion Saga is very Ninja Scroll, but the way the chips I'm using make it look very Ninja Cadets.
Err... or in other words, Kamau's world is this very dark brooding looking place. I'm using Mac & Blue chips, and it's really making Zedrio look like some bright cheery festival port town bustling with activity and life. Instead of the cold dirtness of Veramonde's three "Towns" It does kinda match the weapons guild and Pirates hide away... Meh... Anyway...

Not yet no, but I'm not even sure if I'm gonna do it yet. I've been kinda tinkerin with it on my own, but I figured what the hell and wanted to see if anyone would even be interested before I waisted Kamau's time on it. He strikes me a busy, angry, sarcastic person, so does BMZ. Eh... I dunno if I get it up to a demo stage I guess i'll see about having it become official.

Which sounds better? Keeping it like a kind of Text adventure, or a more traditional RPG?
What I mean is, I'm split between either (A.) Have the story told in a more linear "Find object A to question person B to open door C" by way of dialogue options and menus that pop up asking you what you'd like to do when you arrive in a new area, or what you'd like to ask when talking to someone. Or would it be better if things were more like say Final Fantasy or the official LS games?
The reason I ask is because it effects stats and such (though either way I've decided to go with Fire Emblem low stat and level cap of 20 cause it is going to be a fairly short game and those numbers are easier to work with.) Also an issue is the use of "AP" (Generic Action Point cause I have characters with skills that aren't Orb Craft related) if I used the first method I described AP will be used to detrmine what actions will be successfull (I'm barrowing heavily from Suikogaiden in this respect)
Anyway, Other things I'd like some feed back on is should I maybe just Hybridize the first two methods and have it so when you enter a building you get the menu dialogues that ask you what you want to do (seems more realistic then just wandering around someones house to me) And right now I've got it set up for the use of "Weapon Modifiers" for example in the case of the main character, He's a gun user so he can equip different kinds of bullets. Should I stick with this or just ditch it for regular LS weapon Upgrading?

Well personally, I think that idea of the text part only coming in when you enter a house, is good. The rest shold be more of a free-roaming classic RPG style. Try not to make the stoy too linear, or you will fall in to the same trap that Final Fantasy X did.

Ein- I don't have a computer at the moment (My old one broke and I'm using an internet cafe computer at the moment) but I'll definatly have one on insurence by the end of October and I'll have an internet connection soon after, so I could beta test if you want.
By the way, I think the idea of not having random encounters is interesting. I'm also interested to find out more about the story. I'll look forward to the full game!

That sounds like a great idea.. I'd love to beta test it. I especially like the different ammo types and such. I think thats an idea that should have been in the actaully series. For swords I guess you have to "orb shards" or something that would give them elemental aspects and such..
And you shouldn't make it all the linear.. 'cause Linear games have no re-playablity and usaully just get boring. But a more story based game would be good, maybe you can have a couple different paths 'cause thats not that hard to program or anything.
Hand drawen cut sceens would be cool. I've actaully thought about doing something similar, but I would never follow through..
If you need any help with anything story ideas or anything.. I wouldn't mind helping out at all. I'm not much to do gfx or music anymore. I'm to busy with my personal stuff (band, stone wraping and girls... and stuff).. but if you need plot ideas, feel free to IM me.
