Yeah you can play the game by doing BOTH these 2 things:
1. DISINFECT IT. Make sure the virus is gone. 2. Open it in RM2k and put the hero start point anywhere on the first map (called START/Intro).

Norton auto-deleted it, it couldnt disable the virus.

AVG sent it to the virus vault, where no virus can take effect...then I tried the heal options and it says the only way to get rid of it is by deleting the file...so I guess things will be messed up...

If you have the original LS3 on your computer, it shouldn't be effected. But, I'm assuming Kamau replaced the original LS3 download (on the LS site) with version 2, so if you mean to download the original to play the game without infection, I think the v2 file has replaced the original.
And from what I've heard, Norton does seem to stop it.

Norton is the best anti-virus. Period.
Human error, laziness, and cheapness is what makes Norton fail.
Tip 1# Remember to set AUTO Live-Update! If you don't, your virus definitions won't be up to date, and by the time it gives you the definition warning, it could be too late.
Tip 2# Don't forget to renew your virus definition subscription. Without it, you won't be protected against new threats.
Tip 3# Have a firewall (I use Norton Personal, though it won't work in this case because you voluntarily get the file) to protect against hackers who force viruses/try to take control of your system.
Tip 4# Make Norton Rescue Disks, and UPDATE them! If a virus slips through and destroys you, you won't have any recovery.
Tip 5# (recommendation) Get GoBack. I know, this has nothing to do with Norton, but it's a good idea to have it. The company that makes it is Roxio.
Take my advice.

Hell,AVG update automatically too,my list is always up to date(virus list) and I have a firewall and all that is required to protect my comp,I don't need Norton, beside,AVG 6 is free also,I prefer it over Norton,it's my opinion about it.

Any idea how the virus got there in the first place?

Well, obviously it got on Kamau's computer, perhaps from something he downloaded, and I guess it went into every file he's sent out..

Yeah, the little bastard infected every single .exe file I had. Luckily I've saved it now and the new LS3 version will be up tomorrow (virus free this time).
I will also post some help for people who were unfortunate enough to be infected with the virus too. For those interested who want to search for help before I do so, the virus is called w95.spaces or w95/spaces The main action of the virus activates on June 1st of every year and will prevent access to your hard drive. The last resort (if you are sure you cannot fix it) is to format your hard drive before it manages to kill it. You will lose everything but at least you won't be screwed over by the virus.
