Monster Farm Vol. 1 VHS Reviewed by ChibiGoku.
Packaging

The Cover is basically images from the episode in little bubbles. The Backside gives the episode information, including the Opening and Ending Song. Basically, the VHS was in a Pink casing, which was a bit interesting.
Extra's
--------------
There was several Extra's. First off, Volume 1 contained a Mocchii Japanese Card, Shiny addition. (In the first edition, it contained I beleave a Golem and Mocchii one.) Second off, At the end of the VHS tape, it contains the previews for Volume 1 - 4 VHS tapes. Third, it contains the Music Single commercials of the opening, ending, and songs in the series. Fourth, it contained a music video about Muu.
Animation/Video

It was pretty smooth. I didn't notice any problems in it other then when Mocchii's first seen, and when the old farmer lady speeks. The VHS video was odly enough in real good condition, only one spot was there break of the Video. Otherwise, It was still in good codition.

The tape starts out with a warning about not sitting to close to the tv, and not copying and such.(No Macrovision in it, which was odd.)Then, it's goes to the video producer, then into the actual episode.
It starts off talking about the power of the monsters, and some information retaining to the show. Then the Show goes into the Opening. The Opening is different from Episode 2 and up's opening, which is pretty interesting.( The Opening for ep. 2 wasn't included, however. From all the other episodes, they used a slightly different opening.) After the opening, We are presented to the Episode title, Hajimari wa Ima.
Episode 1 talks about the kid named Genki on how he won the Monster Battle, and maanged to get a copy of the game, Monster Farm Battle 200X, before anyone else. When he playsd the game, he is transported to the Monster Farm world, where he meets Holly and Suezuo. Genki learns about the evil being called, Muu, that is trying to take over the world, which putting DARK ENERGY into the discs. Holly finds out about the game, and beleaves that there is a monster sealed inside of it. When they arrive back at the Shrine, they manage to free the new monster.
When they manage to escape, they need to come up with a name for the monster. Genki thinks up the name Sakura Mocchii, which is something that he ate back at home. Mocchii likes the name "Mocchii" and desides to take it. The episode then ends. (Not ending sequence, it just heads straight to episode 2's title)
Episode 2's name is Boku Mocchii. It starts out with them deciding where to go, and Genki first learns about Holly's pendent. They follow where the pendent points to, and end up in a town. While They eat, Genki screams about they fighting Muu, and the people in the place panic. Holly then explains more about Muu. Then, the owner then kicks out them.
While outside, people stare at them, and talk amoung each other. Holly tries to get a pair of shoes but unfortently the Owner runs away with putting a few in the bag and runs off. Genki screams out about "Is muu that scary?!" and everyone then closes there windows and such.
Holly and them end up continueing in the desert like area, when they meet up with a man.(I can't remember his name. I'll just call him Farmer for now.). The Farmer, takes Mocchii calling him a "KAWAII MONSTER". Holly then asks him if he had a place to stay, he siad yes but under a codition. Suezuo end up caring the heystack while Mocchii, Holly, and the Farmer are on it.
At the house, Genkii and them end up interuducing themselves then eating. Then n the owner's play with Mocchii for a bit, being glad that he's playing with them. Genki and them sleep in the barn with mocchii, he begins to wonder if Mocchii would be better off with the farm and his Wife. Back at the place where Holly and them ate, the Owner is attacked by Muu's minions, while they try to get information otu of him.
Holly and them take off into the forest to look for the iebetsuseki(Mystery Disc in the dub). While they dig, they find out the disc was right behind Holly in the tree, after lighting strikes down. Mocchii retreives it and shows everyone. Later, in the cave, Genki and Mocchii have a conversation, and Genki tells mocchii he should go back to the Farmer's house. He says, then yells out "I hate you CCHII!", and runs off.
Holly and them end up looking for Mocchii and unfortently, Genki runs into Muu's Minions. Genki is saved when Mocchii comes to rescue him, and Mocchii hides off with him.Genki and them run off near a clif and nearly die, fortently, the Minion's jump off after Genki. Genki uses this opertunity to jump onto them, to get back to the side he jumped off. the Monster, fall into the water.
Holly and them end up going to the nearby shrine, and release another monster. This time, it's a small dino being. (Can't remember the name, it was different then the dub.) When they head out, The Farmer and his wife give Genki some new clothing and boots. Genki thanks them, and the dino goes over to them, rubbing against their leg. The Farmer picks him up, and says he's a kawaii monster. Genki and holly ask the farmer if he wants him. He says he would.
Mocchii then asks Genki what about him. Genki say's he'll always go together with his friend. Mocchii is glad. The episode ends here (WHEW!)
Then the ending sequence is seen, which Episode 1's credits on the top, and Episode 2's credits at the bottum. The Ending song I beleave is called, Flame of Love.
Then it ends afterwords, no next episode preview. Then it shows the extra's.
My thoughts: It's pretty good. The music was different, and alot better then the dub. The dub, by ADV, was to go up against Pocket Monsters. The original was not like this. There was a few name changes in the dub, including the episode titles, and the anime name. Overall, it was pretty good. They cut SOME things from the dub, which I don't know why they did. I wonder how edited the Liger's Brother battle was.(Liger is Tiger's japanese name)
