Review: Image a world filled with hatred, based souly on immortality, and you have the movie Underworld. With a unique plot piled with twists and turns in every direction, this movie satisfied my needs exceptionally. There was a war, a war against vampires and werewolves. Werewolves are known as Lycans. For centuries the Lycans and vampires have been battling against one another. Reasons are first unknown, but flow together in the end. Lucian, the Lycan Overlord, has been long thought to be dead for many years. Unfortunately, he was not. It is all up to Celene, a beautiful vampire warrior, to end the raging war between the two races. You see, it was her who uncovered a Lycan plot to end the vampire race.
It was a mortal named Michael Corvin that had the secrets inside his blood. Lucian needed a cross-bread of both species, and Michael met the requirements. It was said that if bitten by both species he would be half vampire and half Lycan, but stronger than both. However, Kraven, the leading officer of the vampires, is making secret "treaties" with the Lycan. Selene becomes suspicious and fights for Michael's safety, when everybody else needs him dead. Now, I won't spoil anymore of the plot because it is too exciting, you'd have to experience it for yourself. I suggest watching the movie, if you haven't.
The first hour of the movie is quite confusing in most situations, but all unfolds nicely in the end. One of the major flaws I found in the movie were the fact that there is too much hard black leather clothing, everyone wears it. Other than this, the movie "Underworld" is magnificent. It's filled with lots of suspense, action sequences, and romance-- to a slight level. While Selene is risking her own life to save Michael, she falls deeply in love with him. Since he had all ready been bitten by a Lycan, it was Selene's duty to murder him in order to protect her race, but she never could do it. This is one high action suspence film, compiled with little conversation, resulting in a great masterpiece. Go watch it, now!
