There are 7 main Pokemon games: Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Gold, and the new ones, Ruby and Sapphire. All were for the GameBoy Color, except Ruby and Sapphire, which were for the GameBoy Advance. They have more Pokemon, more sidequests, more information than the other Pokemon games.
At first, the gameplay didn't look much different than the other Pokemon games, and I was right. Go to tall grass, catch Pokemon, do gyms, do the Elite 4, finish game. But there was alot more to it. The game was so detailed, so enjoyable, and even interesting.
Like any other GBC Pokemon games, there wasn't really a background to the battles. If you were fighting in grass, there'd be a green background. Cave, brown, etc.
The Pokemon graphics were good, even though they weren't even slightly animated. Towns were way too small. About 2-5 houses in a small town, and about 5-10 in a big town. It was all enjoyable though. Incredibly linear, yet enjoyable. The music seems to fit, and it was quite good, too. At first, the towns looked all the same, but it quickly changed. Don't think there are any characters though - you barely have any conversation with anyone. It's mostly trainers that say things like "I wanna battle you". It's a very addictive game, you can play hours on it, without a stop. You can't really compare it to other GBA RPGs like Golden Sun though, still, it's a Pokemon game and Pokemon games are all the same.
However, there is more than "be the Pokemon champion". Now there are two new teams: Team Aqua and Team Magma. You have to fight alongside one of the teams against a different team, depends if it's Ruby or Sapphire. Team Aqua wants to expand the sea, while Team Magma wants to expand the land.
Graphics: 7.8
Sound: 8.3
Gameplay: 7.2
Story: 5.7
Overall: 7.25
Even though the score looks kinda low, Pokemon RS is an enjoyable game which can be very addictive.
