Here's the criteria I'll be using: Story/Plot, Technical Background, Characters, Suspence, and Overall.
Story: 2/2.5 This is the second book after 'Darwin's Radio.' Basically, a virus has helped evolve a new generation of superior humans. However, us, the old models, are afraid of the new generation.
It plays pretty well on superstition-like beliefs of the general populace, and it's a great read.
Technicial Background: 2.5/2.5 This is Greg Bear's specialty. Genetics and biotech are all well researched here, as well as the 'new version' of humans.
Characters: 2/2.5
For a sci-fi, Greg Bear always creates interesting, and human characters. Even the 'villains' are fleshed out relatively well.
Suspence: 2.5/2.5
This book was a quasi-thriller, and an entertaining read.
Overal: 9/10
This is a must for sci-fi fans.

This would be acceptable in a quick-flick for quick refferance. It tells the readers what they want to know, but perhaps a fair-bit short. A decent start if you're new to reviewing, don't be afraid to go too deep into detail.
