Title: Terminator: Dawn of Fate
Release Date: 9/18/2002
Genre: Action
Publisher: Infogrames
System: PS2
Plot: It is the year 2027 A.D. Skynet, the killing machines of the future, are sent on a brutal mission to eradicate humanity. Kyle Reese, Sergeant of the company Tech Com, must guide John Conner through a series of missions to stop Skynet from overtaking the earth. Featuring help from Captain Justin Perry, Lieutenant Catherine Luna, Private Alexander Stone, and many other Tech Com soldiers, they travel through countless facilites fighting to stop Skynet and demolish their mission of destruction. I rate the Plot 8/10
Graphics: People base most games by their graphics. Terminator: Dawn of Fate doesn't have graphics, literally. The character and Skynet designs are basically the only decent graphics in this game, in my opinon. The special effects (gunfire, portals, explosions, etc..) are not very good. I was shocked to see such as bad game for such a great movie, this game made a horrible impression on the Termintor movies. Many rooms were too dark to see anything, especially when you need to press a switch but cannot find it because of the lighting. However, there was one highlight as far as graphics go, and that was the maps. The maps in this game were excellent, they look as though you really are in the year 2027, so that was good. Another good feature were the cinemas, I loved them. But if you want top of the line graphics for PS2, I suggest you stick with Role Playing Games.
Some good news lies ahead.. Infogrames is releasing a new game entitled "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" which will mimic the third movie. In this game you will play as Arnold Schwarzenegger and must go on a mission to defeat the TX, Kristanna Loken, also featuring Claire Danes as Kate Brewster, and Nick Stahl as John Conner. This game will be a million times better than Terminator: Dawn of Fate and is to be released Fall 2003. I look forward to it and I'm sure the graphics will be improved greatly. I rate the Graphics 5/10
Audio: The music was in fact excellent, and fit perfectly. The songs were awesome and the sound effects were beyond great. The lasers, gunfires, blasts, explosions, all of those and more were added directly into the game. I could of sworn I heard some theme songs from the movies in the game, if so that was good. I rate the Audio 8/10
Gameplay: This was the lowest quality of the game, the gameplay was horrible. First off, the controls were messed up in all sorts of ways, they were all over the place. You needed to use like every button on the controller to play the game. It's like you need to press and hold L2 or something to use an iten, it sucked. Secondly, the camera angles were disatorous. Finally, there was a good part of the gameplay value that was worth playing for, destruction.. You move around firing at machines and can blow off their arms and heads allowing them to crawl around and such, it is so exciting! Well.. Not really, but it is cool. All in all the game was all right but nothing compared to what it should have been made to. I am very disappointed in Infogrames for making this sad excuse for a game, it was all qutie bad except for the music, which also wasn't the best. Let's just hope Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (the game..) is better than this. I rate the Gameplay 5/10
Overall: 26/40
