This game was released last friday, and i managed to pick it up from £20, thank you, blockbuster, where no-one was renting the game, so they sold it for half the price.
Graphics : 9/10
The graphics are brilliant. Everything has been given a polish. The maps now include more objects, such as enemy supplies, trees, shrubs, and LONG grass. It now looks less stupid when you go near a horse, in Dynasty Warriors 3, half the character went through the horse.
Generally, the graphics are much better, and the same goes for the on-screen display. The KO counter is now a transparant red number, which is a very small addition, but makes it look much nicer than a huge, fat grey number at the bottom right hand corner.
Gameplay : 10/10
Could Koei of made it better? Probably not. All the gameplay elements have been boosted. The combos you can preform are amazing, and everyone has a diffrent charge attack (Triangle), for example, Lui Bei strafes along behind his enemy quicky, and then charges at them, returning to his normal positon. Other characters do cartwheels, and some simply lunge foward. These charge attacks can be combined with normal attacks (Square). One paticullar girl can do a series of air-slashes by simply hitting Triange after 3 normal attacks. They couldnt be simpiler to execute, and they are incredibly brilliant for the eye. Anyway, enough on combos and attacks.
The game revolves around being placed into a battle feild and, quite frankly, kicking some ass to thousands of enemy troops. If you kill an officer, you get more points at the end, and you will gain some weapon experience. Musou attacks are back, and they are more brilliant than ever. Characters preform diffrent Musou attacks when their health is low, and their Musou gauge will keep filling in this state. This sounds like the game would be easy, but, even in easy mode, the game is tough, and i mean tough. If you let your mind wander, you will be dead before you know it. Sounds bad, but also teaches you that repeditive button bashing will get you no-where.
Body guards are back! Yes, and you can now make your own unit using the edit mode. They dont die as quicky as in the previous games either.
All the gameplay elements are generallt fantastic.
Content : 8/10
Come with new challenge mode, testing various skills. Versus mode is also here, with some neat new modes of play. The only sucky thing about the content is the terrible edit mode, in which you are supposed to create your own officers, when, all you can set is gender, what armour they wear, colours, and attack action. But hey, over 50 stages cant be wrong, can it?
Overall : 10/10
Buy this amazing game. BUY IT! It is a brilliant game, and is a must have for anyones game collection, exept you, Lui Bei (the user, not the character)
