Alright folks, I wrote this review for Rm2k ete, but I thought since it's done, I'd share my glorious un-biased reviews with all of you. Enjoy, and remember, this is an rm2k game review.

Magikoopa Reviews: Ocean Power
RTP and graphical glitches galore
By: GnomeyKnight
Oooookay. I'll just let you folks in on a little something before we get started here. I have nothing against games that use all RTP. But when a game fails to use it correctly, that's what really turns me off. I'll say it, Legion Saga was a good game. It used RTP correctly. That there earns it some bonus points. Even Laxius Power mostly used RTP correctly. This game, does not.
Ah, graphics. Rm2k has always been limited to 16 bit 256 colored graphics. I can understand it being hard for some people to pull off nice graphics because of this. But when I see RTP horribly used, it really bugs me. The only thing worse than that is when the author was lazy at creating the badly used graphics! The world map was an eyesore, it was nothing but the default grass chip along with a few upper layering tiles. The forests and mountains were sparse, and the continents were obviously created using Rm2k's Draw ellipse function. Bad move. I could go on all day on the empty and dull maps, but you obviously already have a mental picture. The title and game over screens were custom though, and by custom I mean a blue gradient and a cheaply drawn gold star made in Paint. I'm not trying to tell this guy how to make his game or anything, but seeing the dull, drab, default rm2k title screen is more entertaining to look at. Please, if you're going to make your own custom graphics, show you at least put a little work into it!
The game's sound track doesn't seem too familiar, I'm not sure if it's custom or not. Nevertheless, it's still fair and the sound track isn't all too bad. The music itself can get a bit repetitive and the battle music is nothing special. This is disappointing due to the fact that the random battles are especially boring.
From the moment I booted this game up, I wasn't very suprised. The opening made no sense. It was RTP and it was bad. The dialogue wasn't pulitzer material either. With bad dialogue like: "Stop, cities is being destroyed!" and "nuts! What a nightmare!" This game really didn't fare well with me. With dialogue like this, you'd assume the gameplay couldn't get any worse. Well, the truth is it does. The main hero is our beloved Alex sprite, who once again is a dull character with no soul or personality. The opening objective is to navigate the badly designed world map in search of a job for someone like finding the magic pendant that the monster stole. Sound familiar? That's because this has been done in about every newbie rm2k game imaginable. Another little note is that a lot of the game's monsters are default, a big no, no that shows either this is the author's first game, or he is incredibly lazy. Either way, the monsters are too powerful and I was never able to get past the first boss as his attacks were far too strong for such weak characters.
It may seem I'm being a little unfair towards this GnomeyKnight. Obviously it's his first game, so why be so harsh? Well, the truth is good or bad, all games played need to be reviewed the same way. Sorry Gnomey, better luck next time. The rest of you can check out GnomeyKnight's completed game at his site:

The Lowdown:
Concept: 2.0
Nothing custom besides badly created graphics, same thing is seen in just about every other novice RPG Maker 2000 Game. Game won't entertain for long.
Graphics: 1.0
RTP doesn't prove anything about the developer, or so some would like to believe. It's a shame it was used horribly and obviously rushed.
Sound: 7.0
Probably the strongest category here. It was alright, most scores at least sounded original. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Entertainment: 1.0
Unless you enjoy laughing at novice style games, you'll have more fun driving a nail through your arm.
Replay Value: .5 Very low
It's not entertaining enough to play even once. If you beat the entire game, good job, you sure were bored.
Overall: 2.3
Looks like the Author went wrong here. Apparently this was his first attempt, and usually there isn't much to say about these. Nothing custom isn't really bad, but when it's accompanied by cliche storylines, and bad graphics, anything that ever made a game like this worth playing is no longer existent.
Comments? Rants? Think I gave a biased score?
