In March, Linkin Parks long awaited new album was released, and now I'm gonna review it song by song:
Don't Stay
First song on the album, and, in my opionion, the worst. Pretty moderete pace. Starts off with a drum beat but a guitar follows in soon after. Song is sung by both singers, Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda. The song is mainly Rock, very little, if any, rapping
6/10
Somewhere I belong
First single of the album, starts with an acoustic guitar reversed. Soon after a heavy guitar riff is brought in. Mike starts the song by rapping the first verse. Chester sings the chorus and the song's climax.
8/10
Lying from you
Song starts with a heavy guitar riff. Then some scratching in the background by the band's DJ, Mr. Hahn. Quite emotional with a very good guitar riff in the chrous.
9/10
Hit the floor
This song is Hip-Hop driven with a heavy metal chorus. Starts again very heavy, then the instruments go very quite and then during the chorus the instruments are made louder. Pretty good for fans of Rap and Rock.
9/10
Easier to Run
First of the album's very quite, almost acoustic songs. Lead man, Chester, sings the verses while in the chorus both Chester and Mike sing. Pretty slow and very emotional
8/10
Faint
One of my favourite songs on the album and their newest single. A mix of Rap and Rock again. Very fast paced. The climax of the song is (screamed) by lead man Chester. Really really good. (the videos pretty good too! )
10/10
Figure .09
Another classic Linkin Park formula, Rock chorus and climax and Rap verses. Works pretty well on this song however the climax is far far too much like 'By Myself' from their Hybrid Theory album.
7/10
Breaking the Habit
A slow, emotional, acoustic song sung only by lead man Chester. Accompanied by an orcestra. Very good.
10/10
From the inside
Heavy emotional song. At times slow and at times fast. Really good chorus.
9/10
Nobodies Listening
Hip-Hop only song. Played with a japanese flute and drums. Cant hear any guitar though.
8/10
Session
It's Mr. Hahns turn to have a song of his own. He manipulates drums and scratches throughout the song. Has a pretty catchy tune but it sounds far too much like ‘Secret’ a hidden track from their album ‘Reanimation’
7/10
Numb
As with every other Linkin Park album, their last song is very very emotional. Sung by both singers and every instrument is played. Very good.
9/10
Overall
One of the best albums I’ve heard in a long time. However its not as good as Hybrid Theory, but better than Reanimation.
8/10
EDIT: added overall score
