For the RPG that my friend and I are making, we obviously need to make a lot of maps. Unfortunettly, the maps are usually decent at best. Not good, but decent. Does anyone have any tips for me on how to make a better map? I could really use some help. Thanks in advance.

---World Maps--- "Have the map before you start be ocean water, the dark stuff, then as you make land and/or islands make the water light around the land place trees around at random so not to make them too lined up but to look messy as to say. Don't try to make your land straight. Use the pencil tool and make it a little rigid. Place your buildings around at random too. don't forget to place forests, deserts and other envirorments around even if they don't play a part on the game just so it looks like a real world. Using these tips should make your world maps look realistic and spiffy "

Actually in towns buildings look better not so random, so you have the effect of streets. When people build REAL towns, they don't just go "oh I'll plop a house here".

Think of real-life, look at a field of trees or something, and remake to your harts content, if no luck still just findle with the maps and redraw them now and then.

Play SNES Rpgs and see how they mapped some things. I have an overhead screenshot of a village in Rudora that shows how the professionals used to create maps before 3d. If you'd like, I'll post it here.

The fact that you so closely immitated the world of Gaia out of FFVII not only leaves me in awe, but frightens me. You did a good job actually.
Now for the scolding. You realize this thread has not been posted in for over six months don't you?
