There's only one townie I know of who has been successful with these. I'm just curious as to whether or not you believe they have potential, and why or why not.
I personally do, because to be completely honest the people I know through the 'net are several times more interesting than the ones I know here, and it's a great way to travel around. ;D On a serious note, too, it's a lot easier (at least for me) to get to know people online than it is face-to-face or even the phone. I hear women saying that such a relationship worked out well for them; this is probably due to the fact that it's much easier to love someone for their personality here. Face-to-face it's much more of a 'you're hot' thing, for better or for worse. It just... seems a lot easier to learn about someone this way.
Do y'all agree or disagree?

I wouldn't really think that a relationship over the Internet should be taken seriously (and indeed, I'd call them more internet friendships than relationships), but I know what you mean. Because you're not looking constantly at the person you're tapping away at, even the most coy of people can find themselves saying things that they would not say offline, and could find themselves revealing a more true picture of theirself inside online.
Also, as you said, if you're like me and a music taste that stretches from Shania Twain to Slipknot (and further on both sides), then it becomes much easier trying to find someone with common interests on t'internet than it would be offline.
If you knew me in real life, you'd probably think I was dumb or something: I'm not an avid talker, especially to people whom I don't know. It's only offline that I feel as if I can be insane without being branded insane [offline].

My last relationship was VERY physical and sexual, and it was an extremely long-term relationship. I fancy a long-distance relationship because I want t connect with the woman more closely and on an emotional and mental level, instead of ramming my throbbing hard **** into her every chance I get.
I believe this could work if both particpants in the relaionship were honest, and willing to put effort into making it work. However, if one of the two halves is going out every night with other women, a problem arises. Physical commitments nearby will destroy a long-distance relationship, so, if you're anything like m,e and can't go five minutes without a shag, they are probably best avoided.

Sorry The Jacket, just proving a point. But, debates shouldn't be moralistic, as different peoples of different morals come together in debates. But that's not the debate at hand, and, at least I censored it

Talking about sexuality or whatever is fine, but using crude detail like that, censored or not, is just uncalled for.

*sigh*
I understand, sorry to have cused any offencew. But, how young are we talking? It takes a child of at least 10, IMHO, to learn to surf the internet effectively enough to come across this forum, and even then, not until the age of 13 at least would they be adequately clever enough to learn to use RPGMaker and therefore be sufficiently interested enough in this forum.

Believe me, very deep inside in everyone of us, we use Internet to become "someone" else even if we are not aware of. Someone we would like to be and which we can't because on real live is so much harder to do it.
ANYWAYS,
basicly Internet is "another" world and everything is not as it seems so I wouldn't ever take a relationship too serious. Not to speak about the fact that most likelly you will never see the person on the other side for "real" neither know if they are what you think they are.
So, to conclude, when both of you would meet eachother you would love it but after a few days/weeks you would probably find out she/he is not who you thought they were. So small term relationships: possible, long term: not likelly to happen even tough there are a few exeptions

Well technically, they shouldn't be on the boards then since the minimum age for Proboards is 13.

They don't cause trouble. -EDIT- Nuno: I think it's "We will have babies born with a keyboard in their hands in tha future" I'm not sure though, english isn't my first language either.

The Omen, how the heck do you know how old MR. E and Link are?
But besides, the point, my opinion on this is that Long distance relationships are only good for talking and sharing ideas...
But then again, I really don't have a long term relationship, all I have is a pen pal. I don't think that counts.
Oh yeah, by the way, I'm 13 as well.
