(adding on to what sleepy said, long well thought out posts are usually in order on this forum, I believe the rules say something to that effect)
I feel that a game could have an excellent story, but if the battle system is boring then people would lose interest. Specific commercial games, such as Koudelka and Shadow Hearts, lost my attention because of their battle system, despite having a good story that kept me wanting to know more. RM2K games likewise sometimes lose interest if they arn't well balanced. There was a few games I gave up on because the battles were too hard or some other reasons.
I will say that story is MOST important, but CBS and graphics can't be too badly done or the story won't be worth it.
I feel at this point I should say something in regards to Final Fantasy Unknown since I am the CBS programmer, but I have nothing to add, so I won't. Especially since it's off-topic.

Well, I suppose it all depends on your views on roleplaying games. I personally can never be bothered to level up, and end up wanting to know more of the story, but never being able to get there.

Oh I never bother to level up either.. but battles have to be at least interesting instead of 'd**n another fight.. this is pissing me off'.
If I'm playing a game where I have to run from every battle because I'm bored of the battle system, then there's a problem.

Yes, when I'm trying to solve a puzzle I absoloutly hate being beridden by battles at the same time. However, if the game's battle system is entertaining and the battles are not *too* frequent then I'm happy, again it boils down to how good the battle system is.

It's like that in FF7, but Grandia's good, at least you can see the battles coming...

zumbum, that game you were talkin about. If you remember the title to be The Great L. War. I remember playing a game called that.
I believe that in order for a great game to be made, it needs an exellent story and a fun battle system. If its boring the action of the game can be lost

i think it'd have to be storyline because it doesn't matter what you're graphics are. It's like final fantasy 7 crappy graphics but the best storyline to it.
