This is a question that is mainly taken from the anime X (which is very good)
Do you believe in Destiny?
Meaning do you believe that before you were born, your life was already planned out from beginning to end?
I would like to say no, that human choice and will controls human life, but sometimes it can be hard to believe. When people die due to an accident it is hard to believe that this is truely a future that was planned for them, but how could they have any control over the occurance of the accident?
So how do you feel? Is life pre-ordained or does a person decide what he or she is going to become or what is to become of them?
(I'm sorry, this question might be a little under-developed, but I'm pretty tired right now...)

No, I believe that one's own will determines one's life. Mainly because of the fact that I am an atheist, and I think that for the course of one's life to be preplanned, there must be something planning it.

I believe that what is going to happen, is destined to happen. But how we handle it, and the choices we make regarding those things are up to us.

We can never truly know the consequences of our actions, so how can anything else know 'em?
Destiny is merely a "side-project" (using the term loosely) of Religion: the belief in a pro-human spiritual life essence.

Err...If there IS such a thing as destiny Nuno, then one does not make choices. One has choices made for them. So how can destiny be both the result of your choices, and the thing that makes them for you?

So how can destiny be both the result of your choices, and the thing that makes them for you? Incorrect. It all depends on you. Let me get and example... You choose beetween a fall from the sky or stay on land. You choose to fall. Therefore your desteny will be to die...
In other words, desteny its not well defined.

Destiny in it's actual definition, is something that is decided for you. What you described is the result of free will, not destiny.

Destiny is... both. It exists, like Nuno said, as a guide, the result of your choices. Though it already directs us in almost every way, there are branches. Example, me replying to this topic. There is a branch to reply, one to ignore it. In destiny, there are a number of branches, and branches in branches. If you force making a branch, say suicide, when you are not yet supposed to, that branch will result in faliure of doing what you aim to do. I KNOW. In the news, some guy jumped off the fifth floor of a building and just broke an arm. Some other guy jumped feet-first off a building and hit a speeding truck.

Right. I'm sure you guys already know what they do, right? To those who dont, here:
Casuality: It strengthens the possibility of repetitive destiny. Casuality isn't planned out with destiny, it is only an influence. It influences destiny everyday, and the day will srely boring if you have REALLY strong casuality. Associated with Deja Vu.
Luck: Strengthens the possibility of one's aim/something good of happening. Like casuality, it isn't planned with destiny. However, it influences less in certain times and more at others
