Gimdin7, I wasn't saying that the chicken would magically appear in the egg once it had been layed. What I meant was that the parents of the first chicken wern't chickens in the exact genetic sense, but the genetic makeup of the child was slightly different, as it was the makeup which technically makes it a chicken in the form in which they exist today. The parents were similar to the chicken, but not quite chickens. That's why I say the egg came first.

the egg would most likely have come first. The animal which the chicken came from must have made an egg that became the chicken. I believe that's what came first.

The chicken, because SharkieDaemon is insane.
Nah, just kidding. The egg, because the chicken can't exist without hatching from an egg, silly.

You've got it wrong Ricky.
If you believe in Creationism, then you believe the chicken came first fully formed.
If you are an evolutionist, you believe that chickens came from speciation over time from a common ancestor of a phylogenetic tree due to the fossil record and morphology. :-D

I'd say the egg. Probably some dinosaur layed it and by some freak accident or act of God, it evolved into the chicken. Like if you believe meteor theory about dinosaur extinction... could've done something freaky to the egg (I actually don't know too much about that - only in grade 10, and at catholic schools they try to stay away from the evolution theory, which I think is stupid).
