Once this forum use to be one of the most livly places on the net... and now in the crumbling ruins of the palace and the very short lived source, we few, we hand full of persons band together to keep this place alive but is the truth to much for us to take? I've noticed a few good rm2k sites dissapper lately. I know we talk about other stuff aswell but rm2k was the core of this forum. Will we soon perish like the others? Consumed by ascii and age-tecs legal problems? I hope not, but if this new site comes around will it become what it once was? Will these forums fill with happy 13 yearold gamers wanting to make there dream games or are 2d games a thing of the past? Do the new generation of gamers want to play the classics we hold dear to are hearts? I think im crying....

Yes, despressing. I noticed that too. The whole rm2k community is dying... we must do something.

Ugh. While the Town/Palace is slow right now, its not dead or dying. We will be making our comeback soon.

Ugh, not that topic again, it keep coming every 6 months in the french community, and it's really annoying.
No, it's not dying, it's just going slower then usual, it's like this every year. And if the rm2k/3 community dies, then so be it, there are other makers and communities out there just waiting to be discovered.

RM2K community seemed dead to me as soon as RPG Makers became dead to me

I've started my new project in the hope that at least a few people will play it.
I still love the community, and the whole 2D RPG scene, and will continue to indulge in it until my back catalogue of the stuff disappears and this community eventually dies. But, as with everything of this nature, I don't think it can die completely. Here's hoping.

I quit using makes a while ago.. was thinking af something last night to start working on... there are a LOT of communities that use RM2K but aren't really recognized but I say we all make a better start with this new town..
But maybe it only seems dead because a lot of us aren't bilingual.

We are no longer putting as much emphasis on RPG Maker on the Palace as before. While it will stay, I want to blend it into a single game creation category to introduce people to the other makers out there as well.

The Town really isn't an RPG Maker-based forum anymore; hasn't been for a long time. While there IS an RM2k section of the board, it's nowhere near as active as the main board.
And I don't know what all this crap about slow and dying is, but frankly, I see posts all of the time here. Sure, there were like two different periods of a month throughout the history of the town that you could see 20 posts in an hour and the boards if anything were too active for a lot of people to keep up with. But this is the Town- This is the speed that we've been going at for a long time, hell, most of the time. Saying that it's a slow time right now is like saying that the Town has pretty much always been slow, and that isn't true. The community has never really grown past 30 consistant posters, and communities with 50+ aren't as active as we are.
And as far as RM2k goes . . . I know I can't do a whole project by myself. Because I know I don't like mapping or the point-n-click style of coding, cause' frankly that's a pain in the ass and I think everyone can agree on that, and I never was good with graphics- So I'm continuing my studies of other programming languages and am trying to get something together.
Dying? Dead? Hell no. Slow? Not the least bit, from my point of view.

Well i guess what ever happens, happens. If rm2k dies thats fine with me, ill still be making games and putting them on my own site for people to see. Also i just now saw the new palace (through links sig) and it looks empty. I figured you'd be using the cjb link but this is a new one so ill need to bookmark it. One point i was trying to make above was that now adays new gamer kids arent playing the classics like im sure we do/did (ff1-6, LoM, etc.). Most dont even like rpgs and prefer games with guns and stuff. Sure I like fps as well, but they think rpgs are crap and that makes me mad. O well the kids I talk to are still young, I hope someday they might at least try an rpg. If all else fails we can tie them to a chair and make them watch us play em till they like em.

I agree with Rolin. It's not really dying. There's just not as much rm2k as before. But the actual SITE is another story. It's been going really slow lately. But like Jacket said, it'll be making it's so called "grand return" sometime soon. Of course, that's what they said a month ago.

The 2D community is far from dying. Sure it's gotten a bit quiet, but RPG Maker XP will change that.

RPG Maker XP will suck and RM2K3 will be better than XP. Heh heh... I still find RM2k to be my favorable choice out of all RPG Makers.
