from the RPG Palace front page: rpgpalace.whahay.net
=======================================
Lately I’ve been nagging Paul M and the staffers to get things organized and the stuff together. It looks like it’s finally paying off as we’re making progress despite what the front page may tell you. Paul M has his hands full working on the anime section and I’m making slight layout revisions as we speak. The major changes you will see to the Palace are numerous, but there is one that is quite obvious. We are no longer just a fan site. This being a first in the Palace history, it may be a bit risky, but trust me when I say Jacket, Paul, and I have put much thought into it to make this here site distinguishable from the rest. Upon the upcoming changes are as follows:
-New forums
-Retro RPG section
-International RPG section
-The RP “Tech” section
-The GameDev section
I’m going to briefly state the goal/status of each of these sections in order to inform everyone. The forums will not be an immediate thing. I have given Paul C all the info needed except for the instructions on setting up the database which I still must obtain from our host Whahay, or anybody else knowledgeable enough to lend a helping hand. As for the Retro section, it will showcase RPGs that debuted on the Super Nintendo console and back. The International section will cover import RPGs, managed by Paul M. Keep in mind these games are not limited to retro, but include next generation console games as well. The RP Tech section will cover everything from console hardware reviews to devices any RPer could have an interest in such as mp3 players, wireless headsets, palms, basically anything along those lines.
Last, and maybe most important for a few people is the Game Development section. We no longer plan to keep this RPG Maker focused. Most other communities out there have recognized the other makers and it’s time we did as well. Just a few that will be covered are: Sphere, Game Maker, Ika, RPG Toolkit, and the Tsukuru series of course. The content is still questionable, and one thing is for certain: only exclusive resources will be hosted here. There is no need to include duplicates when countless communities are already doing a good job of that. I’m thinking about focusing more on articles and tutorials for the development software instead of all these resources. It would be an interesting change of pace. In a closing note we of course won’t be hosting RPG Maker 2003 or any of its variants as it is a violation of host rules.
