Because I've heard the tunes before- Not current songs, and I don't know the name, but there is no way in hell that I haven't heard em before- Either a wierd coincidence or you've heard em too. Not necessarily intentional, though.

Weird coincidence, or just a normal coincidence, because it is a fairly standard tune, nothing too abstract, just simple (if you read guitar/bass tabs)
Slap and Pop style, mind you G----------------5--7----------------7--9-- D--------------------------------------------- A------0-5-7-5---------0-5-7-5----------- E---------------------------------------------

Van Halen - Eruption is a good starting song.

Van Halen - Eruption is a good starting song. Yes, if you do the guitar part . My thoughts have been an older, simpler song. Perhaps a Black Sabbath song or a Judas Priest song such as 'Breaking The Law', although then again my thoughts on what's good and simple are likely to be different than what many other people think.

Where do you think you're going, mistar thread?
Seriously, if the people in the RPG Town band want to get this going, put forward any songs you'd enjoy playing as a cover to start us off.
Maybe something by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, as they have some good sounding songs which are relativley easy (Date with the Night, Pin).

Im not too fond of the idea of covers. I've always hated the idea of bands covering other songs. Yes, even Dream Theater's cover of Master of Puppets.

Im not too fond of the idea of covers. No 'S', Mister Rickster. We'd probably do one cover, just to get used to playing together - making our own song would be hard over the internet, because we'd have to type our ideas instead of physically showing them. Yes, even Dream Theater's cover of Master of Puppets. OMG *downloads*

Judas Priest - Breaking The Law; Black Sabbath - Paranoid (solo pending, of course); A reworking of a 60s pop song; Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water; David Bowie - Space Oddity; Andrew W.K. - Party Hard; Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On; Steve Vai - For The Love Of God; Yngwie Malmsteem - Concerto Suite for Electric Guitar and Orchestra in E Flat Minor Op. 1.
The last three are completely serious, honestly! I tried to think of the easiest songs to play that also rock.

Genesis: Can-Utility and the Coastliners Rush: Natural Science Yes: Roundabout Spock's Beard: Go the Way you Go Genesis: Dancing with the Moonlit Knight Dream Theater: As I Am I figured since this forum is centered around Rpgs, that the band should play prog-rock, since alot of prog rock band's songs remind me of Fantasy-like rpgs.

Although Ricky, CSC and I (and maybe others, I don't know) like prog rock and metal, I don't know if the others would want to do the same, which is why we're trying for different genres.
Plus, it tends to be very hard to play.

Ooh, can I do the guitar solo? I'd need a few years to work on it though, hehe. I believe some of us are accomplished musicians, but others are less so: although I tinker away on a fair few instruments, I'm not tippy top on them. Mind you, that is more or less a list of songs I aspire to be able to play in the future.
